True Grit Redemption 2 review
A western revenge story drives True Grit Redemption 2, but the real subject of the design is a single number: the Global Multiplier. It starts at 1x, climbs after wins and special symbols, and every new symbol that falls in arrives carrying its value. Around that sits a top enhancer row, six locked boxes, three tiers of free spins and a priced menu of ways to start the multiplier higher than 1x.
Reading the board
The grid is six reels by four rows, with an extra enhancer row above it and six locked boxes. Some positions begin closed, and opening them expands the active board up to the studio's stated 4,096 base ways. Ways pay from left to right.
Wins use avalanches. Winning symbols are removed, new ones fall in, and the special symbols waiting in the enhancer row activate only when they drop into the reel area. That means a bad-looking board can change completely a few avalanches later.
The Global Multiplier
Everything in the game is measured against this value. It starts at 1x, rises by one after a win and also grows through several specials. New symbols enter the board already at the current value, so a high Global makes every later symbol worth more.
The contributors are varied. xBomb adds one to the next collapse, Rats add between 1x and 5x each, and the Rat King adds 15x, 20x or 25x when four or more Rats or Rat Kings are on the board. The Hunter adds 50x to itself, to all symbols on its reel and to the Global value. Redemption Girl, a wild, sums multipliers from her reel and passes her value to the Global when she is part of a win.
xBomb
Explodes the symbols next to it, apart from wilds, Redemption Girl and Bonus symbols. It adds 1 to the multiplier for the next collapse and also opens any adjacent locked boxes.
xSplit
Splits every symbol in its row so that each one counts twice, which doubles their multipliers. It also opens the locked boxes in that row before turning into an ordinary symbol.
xWays variants
A plain xWays reveals a paying symbol at the Global value and then adds 2x to 4x. Toxic xWays adds 2x to every instance of the symbol. Infectious xWays doubles all instances, and it exists only in Vengeance and Redemption Spins.
Three tiers of free spins
Bonus symbols decide the tier. Three give 7 Reckoning Spins, four give 10 Vengeance Spins and five give Redemption Spins, whose spin count is not printed in the material we hold. In all three, the Global Multiplier and any opened boxes persist from spin to spin.
Vengeance Spins open the boxes on the last two reels at the start and add Infectious xWays to the enhancer row. Redemption Spins open every locked box straight away and keep those Vengeance features. Each round ends when the spins are finished or 34,000x is reached, and an xTra Extra Spin can follow if its cost is no higher than the win just collected.
Buying a higher starting point
The studio sells four entries before a spin. Bonus Booster costs 1.5x the bet and places a bonus symbol at the bottom of reel two. Gritty Spins costs 7.5x and starts the Global value and symbols at 5x. Grittier Spins costs 30x and fixes the start at 20x, and Grittiest Spins costs 1,869x and fixes it at 500x.
The price climbs steeply with the starting value, so these are not discounts. They are a way of choosing how much volatility to pay for up front.
What the figures say
True Grit Redemption 2 lists 96.07%, a 3.93% house edge, which is $39.30 lost per $1,000 wagered on average. Our catalogue labels the volatility High while the studio's specification calls it Extreme, so both are published. Hit frequency is 22.81%.
Over 100 spins, the average cost is $0.79 at $0.20, $3.93 at $1 and $19.65 at $5. The 34,000x maximum equals $6,800, $34,000 and $170,000 at those three bets.
The first True Grit Redemption sits at 96.11%, High, with a 20,220x cap. Other High games with similar returns include Gluttony at 96.09% and 32,000x, Evil Goblins xBomb at 96.14% and 31,969x, and Das xBoot at 96.03% with 55,200x.
Pros
- The Global Multiplier gives every feature one clear purpose
- Three bonus tiers with 7, 10 or more free spins, and persistent multipliers
- Several buy-in levels from 1.5x to 1,869x to match different budgets
- 34,000x max win, well above the original's 20,220x
Cons
- Many interacting specials make the rules heavy to learn
- Studio and catalogue disagree on volatility (Extreme against High), so the real swing may be larger than the label suggests
- No free demo is listed, and the Redemption Spins count is not printed
Verdict
This is a mechanics-first slot: a Global Multiplier that begins at 1x, an enhancer row of specials and bonus tiers that lock in progress. The 96.07% RTP and 3.93% house edge are ordinary for the studio, while the 34,000x ceiling and the 1,869x top buy-in tell you how far the design stretches. Expect big swings, keep stakes small, and treat the cost of about $3.93 per 100 spins at $1 as the price of entertainment.
