True Grit Redemption review
True Grit Redemption is a grim Western set on a frozen mission for revenge, and Nolimit City loads it with mechanics. A split board with a top reel and a bottom reel, six separate modifiers, a scatter-paying character called Grit Girl and two tiers of free spins all share one 6x5 grid. Some positions stay locked in the main game and only open in the bonus, which tells you early where the design puts its weight.
Reading the board
Wins pay as ways from left to right. The official sheet does not print a fixed base ways count, because the modifiers keep changing it. Besides the main area there is a top reel and a bottom reel, and those strips feed the Wild Transform and xNudge mechanics described below.
Certain cells on the main grid are locked during regular spins. They become available only inside Torture Spins or Dead Spins, so the base game plays on a smaller area than the bonus. According to the rules, 24.36% of spins produce a win.
Six modifiers on one grid
Most of the base-game action comes from these tools, which can land during any spin.
Wild Transform
When a symbol on the top reel matches the symbol directly beneath it on the same reel, both positions turn wild. It links the top strip to the main grid and is the most direct way regular spins gain extra wilds.
xNudge Wild
A stacked wild on the bottom reel that always nudges until it is fully visible, adding 1 to its multiplier with each step. If the first nudge does not produce a win, the rules give it a second chance with a higher multiplier.
xWays and Infectious xWays
Plain xWays reveals two or three of the same symbol, adding ways for that spin. The infectious version goes further: the symbol it reveals spreads to every symbol of that type on the main grid and multiplies them, which can widen several reels in one go.
Reel Split
Doubles every symbol above it on the main reel, then disappears. Its removal makes the bottom reel collapse, so fresh symbols fall in as part of the same spin.
Transform 'em
Turns all character symbols into the same character. With every character now matching, a scattered set of mixed portraits can line up as one large combination.
Grit Girl
A scatter-paying symbol that pays when she shows up on three or more reels: 25x for three reels and 500x for four, according to the sheet, with a chance of an extra multiplier on top. She works independently of the free spins scatters.
Torture Spins or Dead Spins
Scatters choose the tier. Three of them award 8 or more Torture Spins: the active area expands and the cells locked in the base game open for the whole round. Four scatters lead to 10 or more Dead Spins, which unlock every locked position, including a sticky wild with a multiplier in the bottom-right corner that stays for the duration. The sheet writes 8+ and 10+ without publishing the table behind the plus, so the exact extra spins are not known.
Both rounds end when the spins are used up or when the total reaches the cap, which the game names No More Grit to be Found. Free spins arrive about once in 214 spins on average. The rules split the RTP into 62.46% from the main game and 33.65% from free spins, so roughly a third of the return depends on reaching a bonus.
Cost, volatility and the cap
Our catalogue records 96.11%, a house edge of 3.89%, equal to about $38.90 per $1,000 staked. The rules describe a second version at 94.04%. For 100 spins at the higher setting, the average cost is $0.78 at $0.20, $3.89 at $1 and $19.45 at $5.
Volatility is High in the catalogue and Extreme in the description from our source; both labels are in circulation. A win of 100x or more is listed at 1 in 1,474 spins. The 20,220x cap converts to $4,044 at $0.20, $20,220 at $1 and $101,100 at $5, and the sheet estimates it at about 1 in 6 million rounds.
The Nolimit Bonus buy sells entry to the bonus features for 69x to 669x the base bet, with per-mode prices not itemised. The sheet notes it may be removed in some regulated markets.
Follow-up and neighbours
True Grit Redemption 2 lists 96.07%, High volatility and a 34,000x cap. Other High-rated Nolimit City games with close numbers include The Crypt at 96.05% and 27,000x, Ding Dong Death at 96.08% and 14,280x, and Blood and Shadow 2 at 96.09% and 16,161x.
Pros
- Six base-game modifiers, from Wild Transform to Transform 'em
- Two bonus tiers; four scatters unlock a sticky multiplier wild
- Published odds: free spins about 1 in 214, hit frequency 24.36%
- 20,220x max win
Cons
- High volatility, labelled Extreme in our source description
- A 94.04% version exists alongside 96.11%
- Bonus buy prices of 69x to 669x the base bet are steep and not itemised
- No free official demo in our data
Verdict
True Grit Redemption asks for patience and a learning curve. The base game runs on a partly locked grid with six modifiers and a scatter-paying Grit Girl, while the free spins open the full board and, with four scatters, add a sticky multiplier wild. The RTP is 96.11%, and High volatility means long gaps between meaningful wins. Budget for that before starting.
