Evil Goblins xBomb review

A malevolent band of goblins sits above the reels in Evil Goblins xBomb, throwing explosives and trying to feed off your soul, in the studio's words. Their position is the whole point: four goblins watch the top of a 6x3 grid, and matching them with the symbols below turns them into Wilds or sets off the Evil 4 feature. Meanwhile xBombs clear the board, add rows and push up a multiplier.

A grid that grows with every blast

Spins start on six reels of three rows, paying as ways from the left. The board can stretch to seven rows, and the only way it grows is through the xBomb.

Of the games in this style, this one pays often. The hit frequency is 40.47%, about two spins in five, which reflects how many base-game features create Wilds. That does not make it gentle: most of those hits are small and the bigger results still depend on features stacking up.

xBomb

When it explodes it removes every symbol except Scatters, Dead Wilds and Resurrection Wilds. The win multiplier rises by 1, one extra row is added to the grid, up to 7 rows, and new symbols fall into the space.

What the goblins do

Three features involve the goblins or the Wilds that come from them.

Goblin Sacrifice

If a goblin at the top matches the symbol directly beneath it, the goblin is sacrificed and becomes a Wild. With four goblins up there, several can convert on the same spin.

Resurrection Wilds

Dead Wilds wait on the board. Once three of them are present they activate as Resurrection Wilds, and the last Wild to land carries what the rules call a hefty multiplier, without giving a figure.

Evil 4

When all top goblins are matched, a throned goblin appears on reel 1 with a boost of at least x4. Symbols then count as four of a kind, and each matching top goblin adds 1 more to the multiplier.

Fresh Meat and the Feast

Fresh Meat Spins give 8 spins with Dead Wilds placed on every spin and a high chance of Sacrifices and xBombs. The rules in our source do not say how many Scatters are needed to start the round, so we leave that to the game itself.

Triggering Evil 4 during Fresh Meat upgrades the bonus to Goblins Feast Spins: 4 spins with the Evil 4 multiplier active throughout. Matching goblins stay in place, and new matches become skeletons that still turn matching symbols Wild, with each sticky matching goblin adding 1 to the multiplier. An Explosive version of the Feast adds an xBomb on every new spin.

Every round stops at the 31,969x cap, named All Hail the King. The Nolimit Bonus Buy sells the features for 60x to 666x the bet, without a per-round price.

Published odds and RTP versions

Our catalogue lists an RTP of 96.14%, a house edge of 3.86%, or about $38.60 per $1,000 staked over a long run. The rules also name a DX1 version at 94.21%. Of the headline figure, 63.46% comes from the base game and 32.68% from the free spins, a larger base-game share than many similar titles.

Free spins arrive about once in 191 spins, a 100x win about once in 788, and the cap has odds of around one in 55 million. A 100-spin session averages $0.77 at $0.20 and $19.30 at $5. In money, the cap is $6,393.80 at $0.20.

Our catalogue labels the volatility High; the studio page calls it Extreme.

Comparable games

No sequels are listed. Gluttony is the nearest match at 96.09% with a 32,000x cap, and True Grit Redemption 2 lists 96.07% with 34,000x, both rated High.

Who it suits

Because so much happens in the base game, this is a reasonable pick for players who find long feature droughts tiresome. The trade-off is that the free spins are short, especially the 4-spin Feast, so the bonus rarely runs on for long. Expect frequent small activity rather than steady profit.

Pros

  • Hit frequency of 40.47%, high for this kind of game
  • Three goblin-driven features create Wilds in the base game
  • xBombs add rows up to 7 and raise the multiplier
  • Published odds for the bonus, 100x wins and the cap

Cons

  • A 94.21% DX1 version exists
  • Goblins Feast lasts only 4 spins
  • Scatter count for Fresh Meat Spins is not stated in our source

Verdict

Evil Goblins xBomb keeps the action in the base game more than most: goblins sacrifice themselves into Wilds, Dead Wilds resurrect, and xBombs add rows and multiplier steps, giving a 40.47% hit rate. The 96.14% RTP means a 3.86% house edge, with a 94.21% version also documented, and volatility is High here, Extreme per the studio. The cap is rare, at about one in 55 million, so play for the features, within a budget.
