Session budget calculator

Set a budget and a bet, and see how many spins it pays for outright and how long it lasts on average if wins are re-bet.

About 24 min of play if you never re-bet a win.

Average spins if wins are re-bet

Average cost per spin

The re-bet figure is the long-run average and is optimistic for a single session: on high volatility slots many sessions run out far sooner. Decide your limit before you start, and stop when it is reached.

How the calculation works

Spins paid outright = budget ÷ bet Average spins with re-bet wins = budget ÷ (bet × (1 − RTP)) Time = spins ÷ spins per hour

The first figure ignores winnings: it is the number of spins the budget covers if you never play a win back. The second is the long-run average when every win is played back in, because on average each spin only costs its share of the house edge.

The average is optimistic for any one session. On high volatility slots, wins arrive rarely and in large lumps, so many sessions end much sooner. Decide the limit first, and stop when it is reached; the responsible gambling page lists free help services.

Questions

What bet size suits my budget?
A common rule of thumb is to keep each bet at 1% of the session budget or less, so a run of losses does not end the session early. On high volatility slots a smaller share helps more.
Why are the two numbers so different?
The outright figure assumes you never re-bet a win. The average assumes every win is re-bet, so only the house edge is lost per spin. Real sessions fall in between and vary a lot.
