The Crypt review

Dead rock stars return for one more show in this Nolimit City release. Underneath the theme is a cascading 6x4 grid that can grow to 46,656 ways, nudging wilds that gather multipliers as they move, and a free spins round where every fourth winning cascade brings one of five legends back as a wild. It is a dense, layered design with a 27,000x ceiling, and the rules reward some study before the first paid spin.

Grid, ways and cascades

The board starts as six reels of four rows, and wins are paid as ways from left to right. Every win triggers a cascade: winning symbols are cleared and replaced, so one spin can pay several times. Two Nolimit City mechanics change the shape of the grid while this happens.

xWays symbols can land on any reel, and each one reveals two or three matching symbols, stretching its reel. Reels can grow up to six rows high, and with every reel at full height the count reaches 46,656 ways. xNudge wilds work on reels 2 to 5 and carry their own multipliers. The official rules put the hit frequency at 24.65%, so roughly one spin in four returns something.

xNudge Wild

Appears on reels 2 to 5 and substitutes for everything except the scatter. When it lands it drops step by step to the bottom of the reel and expands to cover it, gaining one multiplier step for each nudge. If several xNudge wilds take part in the same win, their multipliers are added together rather than multiplied.

xWays

A mystery symbol that can appear on all reels. It turns into two or three matching symbols and expands the height of its reel, which raises the number of ways for that spin. In the free spins, the rules ensure at least one xWays on each initial cascade.

Resurrection Spins and Dead Rising

Three scatters award 10 Resurrection Spins, and each scatter beyond three adds 3 more. Extra scatters during the round also add 3 spins each. The round ends when the spins run out or the max win is reached.

Two things build up as the spins go on. Dead Rising counts winning cascades: on every fourth one, a legend symbol becomes a wild for the rest of the feature and 2 extra spins are added. Separately, any win that includes the top-paying symbol attaches a persistent multiplier to that symbol, raising it by 1x each time. A long round therefore gains more wilds and stronger top symbols as it progresses, which is where the largest results come from.

The official rules split the 96.05% RTP into 65.03% from the base game and 31.02% from the bonus. In other words, about two thirds of the return comes from ordinary spins, and the free spins round is reached about once in 328 spins on average.

xBet and the buy menu

Two paid options alter how the bonus is reached. Neither makes the game cheaper; they move the spending forward.

xBet

Triples the bet. In exchange, the chance of triggering Resurrection Spins is raised by more than five times. The extra stake applies to every spin while it is active, so it changes the cost of a session sharply.

Nolimit Bonus Buy

Four options are listed: 10 Resurrection Spins for 100x the bet, 13 for 200x, 16 for 500x, or a Lucky Draw at 225x. Prices are fixed multiples of the stake, so the bigger packages cost far more than the extra spins alone suggest.

Return, risk and the 27,000x ceiling

Our catalogue lists one RTP, 96.05%, which is a house edge of 3.95%: about $39.50 per $1,000 wagered over time. The official rules also mention versions at 94.01% and 92.15%, so the figure shown in the game's info screen is worth checking. At the top version, 100 spins cost $0.79 on average at $0.20, $3.95 at $1 and $19.75 at $5.

The catalogue rates volatility as High, while the description in our source calls it Extreme; both labels are published. A win of 100x the bet or more is listed at about 1 in 1,185 spins. The 27,000x cap equals $5,400 at a $0.20 stake, $27,000 at $1 and $135,000 at $5, and it is a ceiling, not a likely result.

Sequel and similar Nolimit City games

The Crypt 2 lists a 96.1% RTP, Very high volatility and a 31,248x max win. Among similar games, Gluttony shows 96.09% with a 32,000x cap, Highway to Hell 96.03% with 20,066x, and True Grit Redemption 96.11% with 20,220x, all rated High.

Pros

  • Up to 46,656 ways when xWays expand the reels
  • Dead Rising adds wilds and 2 extra spins on every fourth winning cascade
  • Clear published hit frequency of 24.65% and bonus odds of 1 in 328
  • 27,000x max win

Cons

  • High volatility, described as Extreme in our source
  • Bonus buys from 100x to 500x the bet are expensive
  • Lower RTP versions of 94.01% and 92.15% exist
  • No free official demo in our data

Verdict

The Crypt stacks several Nolimit City mechanics on one cascading grid: nudging wilds with additive multipliers, xWays that push the count to 46,656 ways, and Resurrection Spins that turn legends into wilds every fourth winning cascade. The RTP is 96.05%, but volatility is High, the bonus arrives about once in 328 spins and the buys are costly. Treat it as paid entertainment with a firm budget.
