Epic Ze Zeus review
Hacksaw Gaming's rules call this the Epic version of Ze Zeus: higher volatility, a boosted ceiling of 50,000x and an extra bonus that can be bought. Underneath sits a cascading grid where every win marks squares on the board, and a Hand of Zeus symbol turns those marked squares into coins worth up to 500x. Three free spins rounds build on each other, each one keeping the squares lit for longer.
Connecting symbols and Super Cascade
A win needs 5 or more matching symbols that connect with each other anywhere on the grid; they do not have to start on the left reel or follow a line. After each win the winning symbols drop out and new ones fall in, and the process repeats until the grid produces no further wins.
The Super Cascade rule makes each removal bigger than usual. When a combination wins, every regular paying symbol of that same type is removed from the grid, including copies that were not part of the cluster. Clearing a whole symbol type at once opens more space for fresh symbols and, with it, more chances of a follow-up win.
Super Cascade
Whenever a combination pays, all regular symbols of the winning type disappear from the grid, not only the ones in the cluster. New symbols drop down into the gaps, and the chain continues until no new wins form.
Win to Win and the coins
This mechanic is the core of the game. The squares behind every winning symbol are highlighted as Divine Squares. Once all wins on a spin are settled, a Hand of Zeus symbol on the grid activates every highlighted square. Without the hand, the squares do nothing on that base spin.
Activated squares reveal coins, which are cash prizes counted as a multiple of the bet, and sometimes special symbols called Vessel of Wealth or Zap of Zeus. The excerpt of the rules in our pack cuts off before explaining those two specials, so this review does not describe them.
Coin tiers
Bronze Coins range from fractions of the bet up to 4x. Silver Coins show 5x, 10x, 15x or 20x. Gold Coins show 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x or 500x. Since all coins pay as multiples of the stake, a board full of activated squares can add up quickly, but only when the hand is present.
Three bonus rounds, one ladder
Free spins scatters, marked FS, decide which round you get. The more that land together in the base game, the stronger the bonus.
What If Zeus Was One of Us?
Three FS scatters award 8 free spins. Divine Squares stay highlighted between spins until a Hand of Zeus activates them, and every coin shows at least 1x. Two more FS symbols add 2 spins, three add 4, and four upgrade the round to the next tier with 4 extra spins.
Ze Zeus Take the Wheel
Four FS scatters award 12 free spins. Squares now stay lit for the whole bonus, even after a hand has activated them, so each new Hand of Zeus can pay the same squares again. Coins are again worth at least 1x, and 2 or 3 extra FS symbols add 2 or 4 spins.
Epic Bonus - Ze Zeus Might Superstar
Five FS scatters award 12 free spins with the rules of the previous tier, plus a Hand of Zeus on every single spin and no Bronze Coins at all. It is the bonus the Epic version adds, and it can also be bought.
RTP versions and what they cost
Three RTP settings are on record: 96.22%, 94.16% and 92.35%, with house edges of 3.78%, 5.84% and 7.65%. Per $1,000 wagered that is about $37.80 at the top setting and $76.50 at the lowest, roughly double. For 100 spins at $1, the average cost is $3.78 at the best version and $7.65 at the worst; at $5 it is $18.90 against $38.25. Which version you meet depends on the operator, and the game info screen shows it.
The volatility is rated Very high, and the max win is 50,000x the bet: $10,000 at a $0.20 stake. The rules mention bonus buy options for the rounds and a feature-spins option, but the static rules page does not list their prices, so we cannot quote them.
Other very high volatility options
Several games share the Very high label. Fire in the Hole 2 lists 96.07% and 65,000x, Kenneth Must Die 96.04% and 69,000x, and Fire in the Hole 3 96.05% with a 70,000x cap. Each has a higher ceiling and a slightly lower headline RTP than this one.
Pros
- Win to Win coins up to 500x give base wins a second payout layer
- Three bonus tiers, each keeping Divine Squares active for longer
- Hand of Zeus on every spin in the Epic Bonus
- 96.22% top RTP with a 50,000x cap
Cons
- Three RTP versions; the lowest, 92.35%, doubles the expected cost
- Very high volatility means long runs without meaningful wins are possible
- No free demo listed and no published buy prices in our source
Verdict
Epic Ze Zeus layers coins on top of a cascading cluster grid, and its three bonuses escalate cleanly from 8 to 12 spins with ever-stickier Divine Squares. The best version returns 96.22%, but 94.16% and 92.35% versions exist, and the volatility is Very high. The 50,000x cap is exceptional rather than expected. Check the RTP in the info screen and play only with money set aside for entertainment.
