Immortal Desire review

Immortal Desire is a Hacksaw Gaming slot where the interest is less in the grid than in the way the reels change. At the start of a spin, some reels can turn into Blood Reels, and any high-paying win on them gains multipliers. Two bonus features then push the idea further. The maths deserves equal attention: the game is recorded with four different RTP versions, and the gap between the best and worst is large.

Ways and Blood Reels

The game pays by ways, with 1,024 of them. A win needs matching symbols on adjacent reels, counted from the leftmost reel, and each such combination counts as one way.

The base-game twist is the Blood Reel. At the start of each spin, one or more reels can become Blood Reels. Winning high-paying symbols on those reels turn into Vampire symbols, each carrying a multiplier. The multipliers inside one winning combination are added up, and the total win of that combination is multiplied by the sum. A five-symbol win with two Vampire symbols of 10x each, for example, would be multiplied by 20.

Blood Reel

Chosen at the start of a spin. High-paying wins on a Blood Reel become Vampire symbols with added multipliers, and the combination's total is multiplied by the sum of those values.

Blood Moon and Dark Awakening

The catalogue does not list free spins as a separate feature, but the rules describe two bonus modes with 10 free spins each. The scatter count in the base game decides which one starts.

Blood Moon

Three free spin scatters landing together start 10 free spins. Every Blood Reel that lands stays in place until the end of the feature, and the Blood Reel multipliers are refreshed on each spin. Extra scatters during the round add spins: two award 2 more, three award 4 more.

Dark Awakening

Four scatters at once start 10 free spins of a different kind. Only non-paying symbols, Awakened Multipliers and Coffin symbols appear. A multiplier above each reel rises as those symbols land, with values from 2x up to 10x mentioned in the rules. At the end, the multipliers above the reels are added together and multiplied by the bet to give the final award.

Buying in and the ante option

A bonus buy is available, with three options in the game's configuration, and an ante-style option is referenced too. The static rules do not state the prices, which are filled in by the game at runtime, so we cannot quote them. Check the cost and the RTP when buying in the game itself before relying on either.

Four RTP versions, one big difference

The best version returns 96.24% with a 3.76% house edge, or about $37.60 lost per $1,000 wagered. Below it sit 94.12% (5.88%, $58.80 per $1,000), 92.27% (7.73%, $77.30) and 88.25% (11.75%, $117.50). Operators choose the version, and the lowest one costs roughly three times as much as the highest over a long run.

In 100-spin sessions, a $0.20 bet costs about $0.75 on the top version and $2.35 on the lowest. At $1 the figures are $3.76 and $11.75, and at $5 (a $500 total) they are $18.80 and $58.75.

The maximum win is 10,000x the bet: $2,000 at $0.20, $10,000 at $1 and $50,000 at $5. Volatility is not published.

Alternatives with a 10,000x cap

Immortal Desire has no series entries in the catalogue. Drop'em lists 96.21% with High volatility, Benny the Beer 96.17% with Medium, and Eye of the Panda 96.26%, all with a 10,000x maximum. Temple of Torment is at 96.2% and the same cap. Epic Ze Zeus reaches 50,000x at 96.22% and is rated Very high.

Pros

  • Blood Reel multipliers are added together and applied to the whole winning combination
  • Two different bonus modes with 10 free spins each
  • Max win of 10,000x the bet
  • Bonus buy available

Cons

  • Four RTP versions, and the lowest has an 11.75% house edge
  • No volatility rating is published and no official demo is recorded in our data
  • Bonus buy prices are not stated in the static rules

Verdict

Immortal Desire is built around Blood Reels and two bonus modes, and it caps at 10,000x. The RTP depends on where you play: 96.24%, 94.12%, 92.27% or 88.25%, with volatility not published. Because the worst version costs about $117.50 per $1,000 wagered against $37.60 for the best, it matters which one is running. Treat the game as paid entertainment, and check the version first.
