Le Bandit review

Le Bandit is built around a trail of golden squares. Each win marks the cells behind the winning symbols, and a Rainbow symbol later cashes those cells in as coin prizes. Hacksaw Gaming then layers three free spin rounds on top, each one keeping the squares lit for longer than the last. The studio's own page text is short, so this review leans on the official rules, which describe the mechanics in detail.

Clusters, cascades and Super Cascade

Our catalogue labels the win system as ways, but the official rules describe something closer to a connected group: land five or more connecting symbols of the same kind anywhere on the grid for a win. The rules do not print the grid size, so we do not state one.

After every win the winning symbols are removed and new ones drop in, and this repeats until no further win appears. Super Cascade goes one step further: all regular paying symbols of the type that won are cleared from the grid at once, not only the ones in the winning group.

Win to Win and the Rainbow

This is the central feature. After a win, the squares behind the winning symbols are highlighted as Golden Squares. If a Rainbow symbol is on the grid, it activates every Golden Square once all wins have been paid.

Each activated square reveals a Bronze, Silver or Gold Coin, and can also show a Pot of Gold or a Four-Leaf Clover symbol. Coins are cash prizes paid as a multiple of your bet; the rules say Bronze Coins start at 0.2x, and the multipliers mentioned for the feature run up to 10x. Clover and pot effects are not described in the text we hold.

Win to Win

Winning symbols mark their cells as Golden Squares. A Rainbow symbol on the grid turns them into coin prizes after all line wins are paid. In the base game, squares only wait for a Rainbow if it appears, so the feature depends on one symbol arriving.

Three bonus rounds

The number of free spin scatters landing together in the base game decides which round you enter. All three share the Golden Square idea but differ in how long the squares stay lit.

Luck of the Bandit

Three scatters give 8 free spins. Golden Squares stay highlighted between spins until a Rainbow activates them. Extra scatters inside the round add spins: two give +2, three give +4. Four scatters at once upgrade the round to All That Glitters Is Gold and add 4 more spins.

All That Glitters Is Gold

Four scatters in the base game give 12 free spins. Golden Squares remain highlighted for the whole round, even after the Rainbow has activated them, so they can pay again. Extra scatters add spins at the same rate: +2 for two, +4 for three.

Treasure at the End of the Rainbow

Five scatters give 12 free spins. The squares stay lit throughout, a Rainbow symbol lands on every spin, and Bronze Coins are removed from the coin pool. That fixes only the symbol's arrival, not the size of any win.

Four RTPs and what each costs

The catalogue records four versions: 96.34%, 94.23%, 92.17% and 88.36%. The house edge ranges from 3.66% to 11.64%. At the top version, $1,000 wagered costs about $36.60 on average. At the lowest it costs about $116.40. A hundred spins at $1 would average $3.66 against $11.64, and at $5 the gap is $18.30 against $58.20.

The operator decides which version you get, and the difference is large, so check the info screen. Volatility is Medium in our catalogue. Neither the catalogue nor the rules we hold give a max win.

Buying in and comparable games

Buy options exist for the bonus rounds and for a Rainbow activator, plus an ante-style bet, but the rules do not print the prices. Check the buttons in the game before relying on any figure.

Vending Machine is a close neighbour by numbers with 96.28%, Medium volatility and 5,000x. Benny the Beer lists 96.17%, Medium and 10,000x, and Supreme Zeus 96.39% at High.

Pros

  • Golden Squares turn each win into a possible coin prize
  • Three bonus tiers, from 8 to 12 free spins
  • Squares stay lit for the whole round in the two upper bonuses
  • Medium volatility

Cons

  • Four RTP versions, and the lowest is 88.36%
  • No max win or buy prices published in the sources we hold
  • No free demo listed in our catalogue

Verdict

Le Bandit is a cascade slot where wins mark squares and a Rainbow cashes them in as coins, with three free spin tiers that keep the squares lit longer. Volatility is Medium and the best RTP is 96.34%, but versions fall as low as 88.36%, a house edge of 11.64%. Check which version is running before you play, and keep the spending to what you would pay for entertainment.
