Le Prechaun review
Le Prechaun is a dense rules sheet dressed in Irish luck. Hacksaw Gaming pairs cluster wins and Super Cascades with wilds that leave doubling multipliers behind, then adds Golden Squares that a Rainbow symbol can turn into coins and clovers. Three bonus games stack on top of each other, from Arc Adventure up to a hidden Shamrock 'N' Roll. Before any of that matters, though, one fact stands out: the game exists in five RTP versions, from 97.52% down to 86.31%.
Clusters and Super Cascades
A win needs 5 or more connecting symbols of the same kind anywhere on the grid. After each win the winning symbols are removed and new ones drop in, and the process continues until no new win forms.
The rules add a twist the studio calls Super Cascades. When a combination wins, every regular paying symbol of that type is removed from the grid, not just the ones in the cluster. Clearing a whole symbol type at once opens more space for the drop, which gives each cascade a larger refill than a standard tumble would.
Super Cascades
After a win, all regular paying symbols of the winning type disappear from the grid, including those that were not part of the cluster. New symbols fall into the gaps, and the chain continues while fresh wins appear.
Wilds that leave multipliers
The Wild substitutes for every symbol in the paytable, but its lasting effect comes after the win is paid. Its position on the grid is then marked as a Position Multiplier, and later wins that pass through that square are multiplied.
Behind each winning cluster the squares light up as Golden Squares. These stay passive until a Rainbow symbol arrives to open them, at which point they reveal special symbols. A Position Multiplier sitting on the same square also boosts whatever is revealed there.
Position Multipliers
A Wild that is part of a win marks its square as an x2 Position Multiplier. Wins that include the square are multiplied by its value, and several in one win are multiplied together first. Each further winning Wild on that square doubles the value, up to a cap of x100. Marks last until the end of the spin.
Golden Squares
Squares behind winning symbols are highlighted. A Rainbow symbol activates them after all wins are collected, revealing Bronze, Silver, Gold or Diamond Coins, Green or Gold Clovers, or a Bag of Gold or Pot of Gold. An Epic Rainbow reveals special symbols on every position.
Three bonus games, one ladder
Every bonus starts with 10 free spins and is chosen by how many FS scatters land together in the base game. Each level up the ladder keeps the rules of the one below and adds something. FS, Rainbow and Epic Rainbow symbols cannot land at the same time.
Arc Adventure
Three FS scatters. Golden Squares stay on the grid until a Rainbow activates them, and Position Multipliers remain for the whole bonus. A Lucky Charm Bar moves one step per FS symbol, and every fifth symbol reaches a new level. Level 1 adds 5 free spins and places 2 Position Multipliers on the grid.
Clover the Top
Four FS scatters. Built on Arc Adventure, but Golden Squares stay highlighted even after a Rainbow activates them. After an Epic Rainbow, only the squares that existed before the full-grid reveal remain. Every level reached on the Lucky Charm Bar adds 5 more free spins.
Shamrock 'N' Roll
The hidden epic bonus, opened by five FS scatters at once. It uses the Clover the Top rules with the Lucky Charm Bar fixed at Level 3 for the entire round, and every Coin revealed is worth at least 1x. FS symbols cannot land, so the round does not grow.
Five RTPs and what they cost
Our catalogue lists five versions: 97.52%, 96.28%, 94.29%, 92.28% and 86.31%. Their house edges run from 2.48% to 13.69%. Over a long run that means about $24.80 per $1,000 wagered at the top setting, then $37.20, $57.10 and $77.20, and $136.90 at the lowest.
The spread matters even in a short session. One hundred spins at $1 cost $2.48 on average at 97.52% and $13.69 at 86.31%; at $5 the figures are $12.40 and $68.45, and at $0.20 they are $0.50 and $2.74. Checking the game's info screen for the version in use is worth the few seconds it takes.
Volatility is rated Medium and the maximum is 15,000x the bet: $3,000 at $0.20, $15,000 at $1 and $75,000 at $5. The rules confirm a bonus buy and FeatureSpins-style options, including direct buys of Arc Adventure and Clover the Top, but the prices are not printed in the rules text we have.
Similar games
No sequels are listed. Medium-volatility games with nearby figures include Vending Machine at 96.28% and 5,000x, Xmas Drop at 96.22% and 12,500x, and Tsar Wars at 96.05% with a 19,775x cap.
Pros
- Five RTP versions, the highest at 97.52%
- Super Cascades clear a whole symbol type after each win
- Position Multipliers double up to x100 and multiply together
- Three bonus tiers with a Lucky Charm Bar that adds 5-spin levels
Cons
- The lowest RTP version is 86.31%, a 13.69% house edge
- Layered rules take time to learn
- Bonus buy and ante prices are not stated in the rules text
- No free official demo is listed on WildmarkSlots
Verdict
Le Prechaun stacks clear ideas into a deep design: Super Cascades, Wilds that leave Position Multipliers up to x100, Golden Squares opened by Rainbows, and three bonus tiers driven by a Lucky Charm Bar. The Medium volatility and 15,000x cap are the same in every version, but the RTP is not: 97.52% at best and 86.31% at worst. Check the version in the game info before any paid play and keep to a budget.
