Eye of the Panda review

Hacksaw Gaming puts a brave panda behind an underground club that opens after hours. In rules terms, it is a five-by-five grid with 27 paylines, where every win clears the board of the winning symbol types and a wild panda multiplies what is left. The two bonus rounds take two very different views of that panda. In one the pandas are collected and then dropped in, and in the other they jump around the grid.

Super Cascade and the Wild Panda

Wins pay along 27 predefined lines from the leftmost reel, on adjacent reels. After a win, every symbol of the winning type or types is removed and new ones drop in, which the studio calls Super Cascade.

The Panda is a wild that substitutes for paying symbols and carries a multiplier of x2, x3, x4, x5 or x10. If more than one Panda is in the same winning combination, their multipliers are multiplied together, not added, before being applied to the win. That rule is what makes a double panda hit stand out. Landed Pandas stay in place until they take part in a win.

Never Say No To Panda!

Three free spin scatters landing together in the base game start this bonus with 10 free spins. The key idea is a collector. When a Panda lands and is not part of a win, it is saved in one of five Panda Collector spaces beside the reels. If all five spaces are taken when another lands on a non-winning spin, that Panda is not saved.

When a spin produces a win on at least one payline, the saved Pandas jump down onto the reels. The value of the round therefore depends on how many Pandas you hold at the moment a win finally arrives.

Jumping Pandas

Four free spin scatters start this round, again with 10 free spins. It keeps all the base game mechanics, but the first five Wild Panda Multiplier symbols that land become sticky and stay until the feature ends. On every free spin the sticky Pandas jump to a new random position, cascade, and take a new multiplier value with each jump. The multiplier counts whenever a Panda is part of a win.

A note on the catalogue

Our mechanics data marks free spins as absent for this game, while the studio's rules describe two bonus games with 10 free spins each. The rules are the more detailed source, so this review follows them. The studio text we hold also lists ante and bonus-buy options but does not state their prices, so we quote none.

Four versions of the return

The catalogue records RTPs of 96.26%, 94.21%, 92.25% and 88.31%. The studio's rules page shows only a placeholder, so we cannot say which version a given site runs. The house edge across them runs from 3.74% to 5.79%, 7.75% and 11.69%.

That changes the cost. Per $1,000 wagered you lose about $37.40 on average at the top version and $116.90 at the lowest. Over 100 spins at $1 the figures are $3.74 and $11.69, and at $5 they are $18.70 and $58.45. Volatility is not published. The max win is 10,000x the bet: $2,000 at $0.20 and $50,000 at $5.

Beast Below lists 96.29% and Chaos Crew 96.3%, both with 10,000x. Dark Summoning reaches 96.36% with High volatility and 10,666x, while Vending Machine is rated Medium with 96.28% and a lower 5,000x cap.

Pros

  • Panda multipliers multiply each other when several share a win
  • Two different bonus games, each with 10 free spins
  • Top RTP of 96.26% and a 10,000x max win

Cons

  • Four RTP versions, with the lowest at 88.31% and an 11.69% house edge
  • No volatility label is published
  • Buy and ante prices are not stated in the data we hold
  • No official free demo is listed in our catalogue

Verdict

Eye of the Panda is a clear cascading payline slot where multiplying pandas are the whole story. At 96.26% the house edge is 3.74%, but the lowest listed version of 88.31% carries 11.69%, so the version matters more than usual. No volatility is published, so expect to learn the swing size only by watching small stakes. Treat it as paid entertainment and check the RTP shown in the game.
