xWays Hoarder xSplit review

Two Nolimit City mechanics share the spotlight in xWays Hoarder xSplit, and both are about making symbols multiply. xWays turns a single position into two, three or four copies of one symbol. The xSplit wild divides everything to its left on the same row. Add a bonus where xWays symbols stay on the board and unlock three levels, and you get a High volatility game with an 11,030x ceiling and a bonus buy that ranges from 95x to 777x.

Two ways to multiply symbols

The base game is a five-reel, three-row ways slot with wins paid from the left. The pack does not print the starting number of ways. Instead the rules focus on the two modifiers that change the board during a spin.

xWays reveals between two and four copies of the same symbol in one position. When more than one xWays lands, they all show the same kind, so the effect adds up on a single type of symbol. The xSplit wild works sideways. It splits every symbol to its left on the same row, which doubles what is there. Because the board then holds more matching symbols, the number of paying ways can jump.

xWays

Reveals two to four of the same symbol in its position. All xWays on the screen show the same symbol, and in the bonus they stay on the board, which is where most of the game's growth comes from.

xSplit Wild

Lands during the spin and splits all symbols to its left on the same row. The split doubles those symbols, making it easier for a matching run to form from the left.

Super Scatter and Bunker Raid Spins

Three scatters award 7 Bunker Raid Spins and four scatters award 10. A scatter can also be upgraded to a Super Scatter. If the round is started by Super Scatters, every symbol below the Super Scatter, including scatters, is converted into xWays as the bonus begins. That gives the round a strong opening board instead of an empty one.

During the spins all xWays symbols are sticky and stored at the bottom of the reels. Collecting them raises the round through three levels, and each level removes more of the low-paying symbols, so the remaining mix is richer. Any additional xWays awards one more spin. The round ends when the spins are used up or when the 11,030x cap is hit.

Buying the bonus

The Nolimit Bonus Buy lets you purchase one of three bonus features for a price between 95x and 777x the bet. The pack does not break the prices down per feature, so we cannot say which version costs what. There is no ante bet.

Numbers: RTP, hit rate and swings

The headline RTP is 96.14%, a house edge of 3.86%. The official rules also list 94.10% for a lower setting, which an operator may run as another published version. On the headline figure, $38.60 is lost on average per $1,000 wagered. One hundred spins at $0.20 cost about $0.77, at $1 about $3.86 and at $5 (a total of $500 wagered) about $19.30.

Hit frequency is 21.54%, so about one spin in five pays something. The rules also split the return into 61.40% from the main game and 32.70% from the free spins, which suggests the bonus supplies about a third of what the game pays back. Free spins arrive about once in 307 spins, and a win of 100x about once in 840. The cap is 11,030x the bet: $2,206 at $0.20, $11,030 at $1 and $55,150 at $5.
