Monkey's Gold xPays review
Most tumbling slots remove the winning symbols. Monkey's Gold xPays does the opposite. In this Nolimit City game, a win that starts on the first three reels clears away everything that did not win, then new symbols drop in to add to the cluster. The Monkey King guards the jungle riches on a 6x6 grid, and the payout is worked out from the number of symbols collected. The catalogue rates the volatility Low, while the top prize is 12,683x.
How xPays works
The studio's own name for the payout system is xPays. A win must start on reels 1 to 3, with matching symbols adjacent. When that happens, the non-winning symbols disappear and a free drop brings in new items to build on the existing cluster. The final payout multiplies the total number of collected symbols by the value of the symbol.
There are no paylines here. The grid is 6x6, and the studio calls the layout one of clusters that evolve as the drops continue.
Symbol tools in the base game
Several features change how symbols count. They are described in the studio's text, so we pass them on in its terms.
Colossal Symbols
Large symbols in 2x2 or 3x3 sizes that carry multipliers of up to 500x. They automatically create wild icons in any empty space beneath them.
Symbol upgrade
Filling an entire horizontal row transforms all collected icons into higher-tier symbols.
Symbol Multiplier
A symbol with a multiplier counts as several icons in the collected total. Wilds inherit the symbol multiplier.
Free spins with a Vine Multiplier
Three bonus symbols award 10 free spins, and every extra bonus symbol adds 3 more. The round replaces the symbol multiplier with a Vine Multiplier. According to the studio, a dice roll before the bonus starts sets its starting value and the step by which it grows: x1, x2 or x3. The multiplier is sticky, and the studio ties its increases to filling full horizontal rows during the bonus drops. The text we have is cut off there, so its upper limit is not covered here.
The round ends when the spins are used up or the maximum win is reached. A bonus buy exists, but the sheet does not print its price.
Numbers and the Low rating
The RTP is 96.02%, a house edge of 3.98%, or about $39.80 lost per $1,000 wagered. The rules also list 94.22%, so another version may be running at some operators. The main game accounts for 57.32% of the return and the free spins for 38.70%.
The hit frequency is 23.26%. A bonus arrives about once in 188 spins, and a win of 100x about once in 788. We report the Low label as catalogued, but a bonus that rare means long stretches without the main feature, and our data records no official free demo for judging the pace.
The maximum win is 12,683x the bet: $2,536.60 at $0.20, $12,683 at $1 and $63,415 at $5. In 100 spins, a $0.20 bet costs about $0.80 on average, $1 costs $3.98 and $5 costs $19.90.
Comparable Nolimit City games
Low-rated peers include Blood and Shadow at 96.13% and 6,666x, Flight Mode at 96.07% and 5,051x, and Golden Genie And The Walking Wilds at 96.03% and 9,583x. For a Medium rating with a similar cap, Devil's Crossroad lists 96.06% and 13,180x.

- Colossal Symbols with multipliers of up to 500x
- Max win of 12,683x the bet
- Hit frequency of 23.26%
Cons
- The rules list a 94.22% version alongside 96.02%
- Bonus buy price is not printed in the sheet
- Low rating, yet the bonus arrives only about once in 188 spins
- No official free demo is recorded in our data
Verdict
Monkey's Gold xPays has an unusual payout system and a high ceiling of 12,683x. The RTP is 96.02% with a 3.98% house edge, and the catalogue lists Low volatility, while the bonus arrives only about once in 188 spins. The idea is easy to follow once it is explained. Set a budget in advance, and remember that every spin carries the house edge.
