Kiss My Chainsaw review

Nolimit City sets Kiss My Chainsaw on a summer night with a local called Chainsaw Larry. The grid is five reels with four rows, wins tumble away, and the grid can grow to five rows high in the bonus. What makes it unusual is the pair of fuel-based mechanics: wilds that double their multiplier while they have gas, and a bonus where Larry himself jumps around the screen as a wild. Our sources disagree on how volatile it is, so that comes up too.

Tumbles, wilds and the gas can

Wins are ways wins counted from left to right on the 5x4 grid. Winning symbols are destroyed, the rest drop down and new ones fall in, and the avalanche continues for as long as wins keep forming.

Wilds can land on reels 2 to 5. A special version, the Charged Wild, has a gas can attached. Each time it is part of a win, it spends one charge of fuel and doubles its multiplier for the next avalanche, until the gas runs out. In The Ride bonus the multiplier of a Charged Wild can reach 4x before the symbol is destroyed.

Burnout

Two scatters on exactly the same row trigger it after wins. All symbols on the grid, including the two scatters, are destroyed, and fresh symbols tumble in. In the main game, scatters can only land on reels 1, 3 and 5.

Charged Wild

A wild that burns fuel. While the Gas Can has charges, a win it takes part in doubles its multiplier for the following avalanche.

The Ride, The Last Ride and Chainsaw Larry Spins

Three scatters on different rows start The Ride, with 8 spins on an expanded 5x5 grid. Three scatters on the same row start The Last Ride, which gives 9 spins and adds a scatter on reel 5. Within the round, exactly two scatters add 1 spin, and three add 3 spins and switch on Chainsaw Larry Spins.

In that top mode an extra enhancer reel appears and Larry becomes a jumping wild on reels 2 to 4. Landing on character symbols adds +1 to the win multiplier. The enhancers he can reveal include a Smiley (+1 spin), xSplit, which doubles multipliers between itself and Larry, and Lucky Feet, which moves him to a new position and can trigger an Afterburner that doubles symbol multipliers on that row.

Buying a ride

A Nolimit Bonus buy takes the player straight into one of the bonus options. The price ranges from 66x to 155x the bet, though the sheet does not itemise each mode. The rules also warn that the option may be removed in some regulated markets. There is no ante bet.

RTP versions and volatility

The headline RTP is 96.1%, a house edge of 3.9%, or about $39 lost per $1,000 wagered. The rules list two lower options, 94.04% and 92.13%, so operators may run a version that costs more. The listed split is 63.00% from the main game and 33.10% from the bonus modes, which shows that a large share of the return sits in the features.

Our catalogue rates the volatility as Medium. The studio's page text calls it Extreme. We cannot reconcile the two, so treat the swings as uncertain until you have tried the demo. The hit frequency is 28.61%, free spins arrive about 1 in 200 spins, and a 100x win is about 1 in 1353.

Max win and session cost

The cap is 10,900x the bet, called End of the Road, with odds quoted at about 1 in 9.4 million spins on the 96.1% version. In money that is $2,180 at a $0.20 bet, $10,900 at $1 and $54,500 at $5. For 100 spins, a $0.20 bet costs about $0.78 on average, $1 costs $3.90 and $5 costs $19.50.

Among Nolimit City's catalogue titles, Roadkill lists 96.04% and 11,091x, Benji Killed In Vegas 96.04% and 10,000x, and Walk of Shame 96.04% and 9,822x, all rated Medium.

Pros

  • Charged Wilds that double their multiplier while the gas lasts
  • Three bonus modes, topped by Chainsaw Larry Spins
  • Hit frequency of 28.61%
  • Max win of 10,900x the bet

Cons

  • Volatility is Medium in the catalogue and Extreme in the studio's text
  • The bonus buy costs 66x to 155x the bet
  • Lower RTP versions of 94.04% and 92.13% are mentioned in the rules
  • No official free demo is recorded in our data

Verdict

Kiss My Chainsaw mixes tumbles, fuel-limited wilds and a three-step bonus ladder. The headline RTP is 96.1%, a 3.9% house edge, and the cap is 10,900x. Volatility is the open question: Medium in the catalogue, Extreme in the studio's text. With lower RTP versions also in the rules, check which one is running, and treat the buy option as an expensive shortcut and not a way to improve your odds.
