The Cage review
The Cage is set in an underground fighting arena. Nolimit City pairs the theme with a tumbling ways engine on a 7-reel grid, and then makes the bonus a ladder: each free spins round is a sequence of opponents who lose health when Uppercut symbols land. The ladder structure is the part that makes the game different from a simple free spins slot.
Base game: 5,184 ways and a left-moving tumble
The reels hold 3, 4, 3, 4, 3, 4 and 3 rows, which gives 5,184 ways to win from left to right. After a win the symbols explode, and the rest fall down and then to the left to make room for new ones. The studio calls the arena an unconventional chainlink layout.
Nolimit City's tumble works with two modifiers that build the multiplier as the sequence continues.
The knockout bombs
Both modifiers produce the same item: the Wild Knockout xBomb.
Wild Knockout xBomb
The bomb acts as a wild and then explodes in a cross shape. The blast clears the adjacent symbols and adds 1 to the win multiplier for the next collapse. A chain of bombs therefore raises the multiplier step by step.
Roundhouse Kick
A spin that has no win can still trigger this feature, if matching symbols line up on a diagonal. It then creates between one and four Wild Knockout xBombs. The rules say three to six matching symbols are involved, which makes it a way to save a dead spin.
Title Fight Freespins
Three scatters anywhere start the Title Fight Freespins. The layout changes to 3-3-3-2-2-2-3-3-3 and pays in both directions. Four title belt booster positions appear on the board.
The aim is to defeat opponents one after another. An Uppercut symbol takes one point of health from the opponent. The first fighters have 3, 3, 4 and 5 health points, and defeating them awards additional spins of 3, 3, 3 and 5. The studio names Big Fatty and Ironjaw among the opponents, and beating a fighter unlocks modifiers such as symbol multipliers, symbol transformations and sticky wilds. The fighter list in our source is cut off after the fifth fight, so the later stages are not described here.
The final boss leads to the maximum win, called Greatest of All Time, which is 25,000 times the bet. The round ends when the spins run out or when that cap is reached.
Bonus buy and volatility labels
Nolimit Bonus Buy sells direct entry to the fight at prices between 68 and 498 times the bet. No free demo is listed on the official page.
The catalogue rates The Cage as Medium volatility, while the studio's own page calls it High. Both labels are published. The hit frequency is 31.98%, which is about one spin in three.
What it costs to play
The RTP is 96.05% with a 3.95% house edge, or $39.50 lost per $1,000 wagered. A hundred spins cost $0.79 on average at a $0.20 bet, $3.95 at $1 and $19.75 at $5. At the 25,000x cap a win would be $5,000, $25,000 or $125,000 at those stakes.
Similar Medium games
Dragon Tribe has 96.07% and a 27,000x ceiling, and Breakout 96.07% with 20,000x. Space Donkey sits at 96.07% with 14,649x, Kiss My Chainsaw at 96.1% with 10,900x, and Roadkill at 96.04% with 11,091x. Benji Killed In Vegas lists 96.04% with 10,000x.
Pros
- Roundhouse Kick can create up to four bombs even from a spin with no win
- Boss ladder in the bonus adds spins for each fighter defeated
- 5,184 ways with tumbles to the left
- Hit frequency of 31.98% means about one spin in three pays
Cons
- Medium in the catalogue but High on the studio page, so the volatility is not clear-cut
- No free demo is listed on the official page
- Fighter progression rules are only partly documented in our sources
Verdict
The Cage turns a free spins round into a series of bouts, with extra spins for each fighter beaten and a 25,000x ceiling at the end of the ladder. The RTP is 96.05% and the house edge 3.95%. The volatility is given as Medium by the catalogue and High by the studio, which is a reason to start with small stakes while the real pace becomes clear.
