Fury of Odin Megaways review
Fury of Odin Megaways sends the Norse gods into a six-reel Megaways grid. Pragmatic Play's 2022 slot changes reel heights on every spin, allows up to 117,649 ways to win and lets winning symbols tumble away. Two special symbols do the heavy lifting: Fury, which turns the positions below it into wilds, and Mystery, which reveals matching symbols. The free spins add a multiplier that never resets, and the studio ties the 15,000x max win to those two symbols appearing in the bonus.
Changing reels and 117,649 ways
The studio lists the cast as Norse gods including Odin, Thor and Freya. Matching symbols must connect from the left to pay. The rules describe a screen of eight by six, made of a secondary screen of seven by six and a tracker along the top. Reels 1 and 6 can be anywhere from two to seven rows tall, and reels 2 to 5 from two to six. The maximum is therefore 117,649 ways.
Wins trigger a tumble in the studio's description: winning symbols are replaced by new ones. Our catalogue marks the game as having no tumble, so the two sources disagree on that point. The rules text and the free spins multiplier both refer to tumbling, so we describe it as part of the game.
Fury and Mystery symbols
The wild substitutes for every symbol except the scatters, which makes it easier to build a connection.
Two further symbols give the base game its character. They are also the pair the studio names as the key to the top prize.
Fury symbol
When Fury lands, it turns every position below it into a wild reel. The rules add that if stacked wilds remain on any reel after all tumbles, a Fury respin follows. The text we have stops before the details, so we do not describe the respin further.
Mystery symbol
Mystery symbols can also reveal matching symbols, according to the studio. They exist in both the base game and the free spins.
Free spins with a tumbling multiplier
Four or more scatters start the round, and they are shown as the letters O, D, I and N. Four give 10 free spins. Each additional scatter on the trigger adds 2 more spins, and any scatter that lands during the round adds 2 as well.
Every win is multiplied by a tumbling multiplier that starts at 1 and rises by 1 with every tumble. It is kept until the end of all the free spins, so it never drops back between spins. That is the part of the design that makes the later spins of a round more valuable than the early ones.
The numbers
The only RTP on record is 95.97%, a house edge of 4.03% and an average cost of about $40.30 per $1,000 wagered. A 100-spin session costs $0.81 on average at $0.20, $4.03 at $1 and $20.15 at $5.
The max win is 15,000x the bet, meaning $3,000 at $0.20, $15,000 at $1 and $75,000 at $5. Volatility is not published. The rules list no bonus buy and no ante bet.
Other Megaways games
The return here is below every similar title listed. Muertos Multiplier Megaways and Mammoth Gold Megaways show 96.03%, Blazing Wilds Megaways 96.06%, Pompeii Megareels Megaways 96%, and Christmas Carol Megaways and Barnyard Megahays Megaways 96.5%. Each of those caps at 10,000x or 20,000x, so the 15,000x here sits between them.
Pros
- Up to 117,649 ways on reels that change height
- Free spins multiplier rises by 1 with every tumble and is kept for the whole round
- Max win of 15,000x the bet
- Free official demo available
Cons
- RTP of 95.97% is the lowest among the similar games listed
- No volatility rating published
- The catalogue and the studio disagree on whether the game tumbles
Verdict
Fury of Odin Megaways is a feature-rich Norse slot: shifting reel heights, Fury wilds, Mystery reveals and a tumbling multiplier that stays for the whole bonus. The 15,000x cap is higher than most of its Megaways neighbours, but the 95.97% RTP and 4.03% house edge are lower than all of them. Volatility is not published, so treat it as paid entertainment and use the free demo to see how the multiplier builds.
