The Rave review

The Rave hands the decks to Joe Labrador, now performing as DJ P5ychØ Manhunt, at a party the studio jokes nobody comes back from. Nolimit City keeps the grid small, five reels of three rows, and lets the modifiers do the work: Wilds that split their reel, xWays pairs that merge into towering Wilds, and two bonus rounds named after dance-floor clichés, with DJ effects that rework the reels.

Base game on a 5x3 floor

Wins pay as ways from the left across a fixed 5x3 grid. Unlike many of the studio's games, the reels do not grow and there are no avalanches; every change to the board comes from a symbol landing on it.

Two Scatters without a third are not wasted. They turn into Enhancer Cells, positions that reveal a modifier, so a near miss on the bonus still improves the spin. The hit frequency is 25.66%, about one paying spin in four.

xSplit Wild

Splits every symbol on its reel into two, doubling what that reel contributes to the ways count, and then divides itself into two separate Wilds, according to the studio's description.

Double xWays Wild

If two xWays symbols land on the same reel, they combine into a stacked Wild between 6 and 11 symbols high. One tall Wild reel connects many ways at once.

xBet

Adds 20% to the stake, so each spin costs 1.2 times the base bet. In return a Scatter is placed on reel 2 on every paid spin, bringing the two-Scatter Enhancer Cells and the bonus closer.

Murder on the Dancefloor

Three or four Scatters start this round with 3 or 4 Enhancer Cells opened to match. A fourth Scatter landing during the round opens one more cell and adds one spin, and a fifth upgrades the round to God is a DJ with two extra spins.

The DJ effects appear at random here. The studio page describes them: Mashup upgrades character symbols, Crossfader turns low-paying symbols into Wilds, and Sidechain links several reels together. Our source does not print the starting number of spins for either bonus round.

God is a DJ

Five Scatters go straight to the top round. Five Enhancer Cells sit along the bottom middle of the board and stay sticky for the whole feature. These cells reveal only high-paying symbols, xWays, Wilds or xSplit, so the weakest outcomes are removed.

On top of that, one of the DJ effects, Mashup, Crossfader or Sidechain, fires on every spin rather than at random. The rules add that an xSplit landing on reels 2 to 4 raises a reel multiplier by 2. The combination of sticky cells and an effect on every spin makes this the round where the 41,500x cap, called Busted, is most within reach.

Return, cost and comparisons

One RTP is recorded: 96.09%, a house edge of 3.91%. Over a long stretch that is about $39.10 lost on each $1,000 played. A 100-spin session averages $0.78 at $0.20, $3.91 at $1 and $19.55 at $5, before the 20% xBet surcharge if you use it.

Our catalogue labels the volatility Very high and the studio page lists Extreme. The 41,500x cap is $8,300 at $0.20 and $207,500 at $5. The Nolimit Bonus Buy sells the features for between 68x and 522x the bet, without a per-round price in our source.

Buying a feature puts a large sum on one outcome at once; it does not improve the long-run return. No sequels are listed. Punk Toilet shares the 96.09% RTP with a 33,333x cap, and Brute Force lists 96.08% with 40,000x, both Very high.

Who should dance

This suits players who like seeing a small grid transformed by modifiers and who accept that the large results sit mostly in a five-Scatter round. Players who prefer simple reels or regular mid-sized wins will find the swings hard going. The cheap xBet is tempting, but over many spins its 20% surcharge adds up, so count it as part of the budget rather than a free extra.

Pros

  • Two Scatters still pay off by becoming Enhancer Cells
  • Double xWays Wilds stack 6 to 11 high on one reel
  • God is a DJ fires a DJ effect on every spin with five sticky cells
  • Low 20% xBet surcharge

Cons

  • Very high volatility, Extreme on the studio page
  • Starting spin counts for the bonuses are not published in our source
  • The best round needs five Scatters

Verdict

The Rave packs plenty onto a 5x3 floor: xSplit Wilds, merging xWays and Enhancer Cells from just two Scatters, with God is a DJ as the round where everything lines up. The 96.09% RTP sets a 3.91% house edge, and volatility is Very high in our data and Extreme by the studio's rating. It is a game for patient players with a clear budget, not for anyone seeking steady returns.
