Might of Ra review
Might of Ra is a six-reel Egyptian slot from Pragmatic Play, released in 2022. The sun god himself is the wild, and he can suddenly fill an entire reel and add a 3x multiplier. The bonus is a collection game: 15 free spins in which ankh symbols are gathered to load the reels with more and more wilds. With no buy feature and no ante, it is an unusually traditional design for the studio's recent output.
Six reels and adjacent wins
Wins need three matching symbols on adjacent reels, read from the left. According to the studio, the top animal symbols, phoenix, stallion, scorpion and serpent, pay up to 15x the bet. The rules list pays for runs of three up to six symbols, so long runs across all six reels are where line wins become substantial.
Scarab bonus symbols act as scatters. In the base game they appear on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5, and they pay on their own: three pay 2x the total bet and four pay 5x. Three or more also start the free spins.
Ra's wild reels
Ra is the wild. He substitutes for every symbol except the bonus scarab and can land on any reel. The interesting part is what happens after he lands.
Wild reel transformation
Whenever one or more wilds land, each can randomly transform into a reel full of wilds. A transformed reel carries a 3x multiplier that applies to every winning combination that includes it, so a single transformation can lift several wins at once.
Free spins: collecting ankhs
Three or more scarabs start 15 free spins on special reels. A new symbol, the ankh, appears only in this round, and collecting ankhs upgrades the reel strips in four levels.
At the start, Level 1, the strips hold 54 wilds. Five ankhs reach Level 2 and add 12 more wilds. Ten ankhs reach Level 3 and add another 12. Fifteen or more reach Level 4 and add 24 more. Each level makes wilds, and with them the chance of wild reels and their 3x multipliers, more common for the rest of the round.
Retriggers are generous in their structure. Two scarabs during the round add 3 free spins, three add 6 and four add 9. Extra spins matter twice here: they pay in their own right and give more time to collect ankhs and climb the levels.
Ankh levels
Free spins only. The reel strips start with 54 wilds; collecting 5, 10 and 15 ankhs adds 12, 12 and then 24 more. The upgrades last for the rest of the round, so the later spins of a long bonus are the strongest.
Retrigger
Two, three or four scarab bonus symbols during the round award 3, 6 or 9 more free spins respectively, extending the time available to fill the ankh meter.
