Cash Elevator review

Cash Elevator turns the reel set into a building. Pragmatic Play's 2021 slot runs on 20 paylines, and the screen moves between 13 floors and a basement, with each step up removing the cheapest remaining symbol from the reels. The story is about two separated lovers, shown as tall wilds, and getting them to meet is what fuels the free spins. Reaching the top floor opens a coin respin round.

The elevator idea

On the 1st floor every paying symbol is present on the reel strips. From the 2nd floor upwards, the lowest-value symbol is taken off the strips at each level, so the higher you go, the more the reels are filled with premium symbols. The studio describes the game as moving up and down through the floors rather than only climbing, which means progress is not one-way.

The rules also name UP and DOWN symbols, which the wild cannot replace. Our excerpt of the rules does not spell out exactly how they move the car, so the official demo's paytable is the place to confirm that part. Line wins are read left to right across 20 paylines.

Dead Lovers free spins

Wilds only exist inside this round, and the round itself is triggered by full-height wilds in the base game. A complete 1x3 wild on reel 2 or reel 4 starts the Dead Lovers feature.

Spin pick

Before the round begins you choose one of three options, which reveals between 6 and 12 free spins at random. If the trigger had full wilds on both reel 2 and reel 4 at once, the pick range rises to 12 to 24 spins.

Moving lovers

The round opens on a random floor between 1 and 12, with full 1x3 wilds standing on reels 1 and 5. They stay all round. After each spin that wins with the lowest symbol of the current floor, the two wilds step one reel closer: first to reels 2 and 4, then together on reel 3, where they merge and award 5 extra free spins. Further wins with that symbol split them apart again.

Wild substitution

During the free spins the wilds replace every symbol apart from the UP, DOWN and money symbols, so they help line wins but cannot complete the elevator or coin mechanics.

The top floor

According to the studio, reaching the 13th floor activates a Hold and Spin round. In it, money symbols carry a random value taken from a predefined set, and every new money symbol that lands sets the respin counter back to 4. The round therefore lasts as long as coins keep arriving, and the total is built from the values collected.

Because each floor removes a low symbol, climbing has a cumulative effect: wins on high floors come from a richer mix, and the top floor adds a separate collection game on top. Falling back down undoes some of that progress. There is no bonus buy or ante option in the rules, so every floor has to be reached through ordinary paid spins.

Return and risk

Cash Elevator has one listed RTP, 96.64%, matching the figure in the rules document. The house edge is 3.36%, about $33.60 per $1,000 wagered over a long run. For 100 spins the average cost is $0.67 at $0.20, $3.36 at $1 and $16.80 at $5.

The maximum win is limited to 20,000x the bet: $4,000 at $0.20 or $20,000 at $1. No volatility rating is published. The design points to a game where the floor you are on shapes how rich the reels are, and where the largest outcomes need the climb, the free spins and the coin round to go well.

Comparable figures

No sequel is listed. Several titles share the 20,000x cap: Dragon Hot Hold and Spin and Hot to Burn Hold and Spin, both from 2021 at 96.7%, and Book of Kingdoms from 2020 at 96.69%. Fire Strike 2 from 2022 lists 96.5% and 25,000x.

Pros

  • A distinctive 13-floor system that removes low symbols as you climb
  • Free spins pick of 6 to 12, or 12 to 24 with a double trigger
  • Merging wilds award 5 extra spins
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • More moving parts than a typical line slot, so it takes time to learn
  • Progress can be lost when the elevator moves down
  • No published volatility rating

Verdict

Cash Elevator rewards patience with a clever idea: every floor up removes a low symbol, the Dead Lovers free spins revolve around two wilds walking towards each other, and the 13th floor holds a coin respin round. The 96.64% RTP is solid, the volatility is not published and the 20,000x cap is rare. With a 3.36% house edge, set a budget and learn the elevator in the free demo first.
