Diamond Cascade review

Gems on coloured backgrounds, a 5x5 board and a multiplier that grows with every cascade: Diamond Cascade is a compact tumbling slot from Pragmatic Play. Its twist is the way it counts a win, by the colour behind the jewel instead of the jewel itself. The official documents do not fully agree on whether wins are clusters or lines, so this review lays out both versions. No max win or volatility rating is published.

What counts as a win

The studio's player description is clear: match at least five jewels with the same background colour in a cluster, and the symbols explode and trigger a cascade. Our catalogue agrees and classes the game as a cluster-pays slot.

The technical rules sheet reads differently. It describes a 5x5 screen with 50 pay lines paying left to right, a bet multiplier of 20, and says the tumble mechanic starts only when there is a line pays win on the initial reel. These two descriptions cannot both be the full story, and we cannot say which one governs the live game. The demo will settle it quickly.

Cascades and the colour multiplier

Whichever way wins are counted, the cascade is the same idea: winning symbols leave the board and new ones take their place. While it runs, the game keeps a count of symbols collected. For every 20 symbols collected, a 1x multiplier is added to the reels, and it stays until no more clusters form.

Because the multiplier stays until no more clusters form, the later steps of a long chain carry a higher value than the early ones, and a one-step spin gets little from it.

Colour Tumble multiplier

This is the studio's name for the growing multiplier. It rises by 1x for each 20 symbols collected and applies to the cascade in progress. It also applies in the free spins, where the studio says it gives the round brilliant win potential.

Scatters and free spins

Three or more diamond scatters trigger the free spins. The rules list eleven symbols in total: eight regular symbols, one wild that pays and two scatter symbols, and they say all scatters pay. A retrigger is available during the round, but the text we hold does not say how many spins it adds, how many spins the round begins with, or what a retrigger needs, so we give no numbers for those.

The numbers

There is a single RTP on record, 96.06%, which is a house edge of 3.94%. That works out at roughly $39.40 lost per $1,000 wagered. A 100-spin session costs $0.79 on average at $0.20 a spin, $3.94 at $1 and $19.70 at $5, which is $500 wagered in total.

Since the max win and volatility are both missing from the catalogue, there is no money figure for a top prize. The free demo is the practical way to see how far the cascade multiplier climbs.

Related games

Among the catalogue's close matches, Sticky Bees also lists 96.06% and Gods of Giza 96.01%. Jewel Rush is at 96.47%, while Sugar Rush (96.5%, 5,000x, 2022), Sugar Rush Xmas (96.5%, 5,000x) and Sugar Rush 1000 (96%, 25,000x, 2024) carry published caps that Diamond Cascade lacks.

Pros

  • Multiplier grows by 1x for each 20 symbols collected during a cascade
  • The multiplier also applies in the free spins
  • Free spins can be retriggered
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • Studio text and rules sheet disagree on clusters versus 50 pay lines
  • No max win or volatility label is published
  • Spin counts for the free spins and the retrigger are not in the text we hold

Verdict

Diamond Cascade is a short-ruled tumbling slot whose appeal is a multiplier that builds while the cascade lasts. The 96.06% RTP means a 3.94% house edge, but the missing max win and volatility figures, and a rules sheet that conflicts with the studio's cluster description, leave real gaps. Use the free demo first, and treat any play as paid entertainment.
