BRICK SNAKE 2000 review

Nolimit City borrows the look of a pixelated mobile-phone game from the early 2000s and builds a slot around a snake. In the base game a Moving Wild Snek crawls across the board and leaves wilds behind. In the bonus, the snake becomes the whole round: it eats coins, multipliers and eggs until every snake has died. There is no fixed number of free spins, which makes this one of the odder bonus designs around.

Grid and base game

The grid is 5x5 and pays by ways, giving a base of 3,125. An xWays symbol can land and reveal matching symbols up to size five, which widens the ways on that position.

The Moving Wild Snek can drop anywhere. It then moves from one to five steps in any direction except backwards, and every cell it crosses becomes a wild. When it crosses a revealed xWays, that cell becomes a wild of the same ways size.

Boosted xBet

An optional bet that costs 5% more. It places a scatter on reel 2 and disables the bottom row, and the Snek cannot enter a disabled row. The studio calls the stake only slightly higher, but the change affects every spin, and the smaller grid is part of the price.

Snek Spins: a round that ends when the snakes die

Three or four scatters start Snek Spins, and the third and fourth scatter turn into snakes. Five scatters start Super Snek Spins. The rules print no fixed spin count. Instead the snakes keep moving, wrap around the edges and eat items until each snake has either eaten itself or been killed by a Slayer.

Coins pay a multiple of the bet: the default values run 1 to 5, 10 and 100. Multiplier items raise the value of coins eaten afterwards, with values from 1 to 5 and 10. Eggs spawn a new snake from the eater's tail, up to a maximum of three at once. The studio also mentions an Upgrade symbol, and the rules state that eating it turns Snek Spins into Super Snek Spins after the round.

Slayer

Slayers are sticky and up to four can be on the grid. A snake that eats one dies before the next spin. They are the main thing that ends a round.

Collector 2000

At the start of each spin it adds up the visible coin values. If a snake eats it, the total is added to the counter and multiplied by the win multiplier at that moment. It disappears after four uneaten steps and returns on the next spin.

MaxWin Coin

Eating it awards the 8,110x maximum. If nobody reaches it, it disappears after four steps.

Shortcuts and the gamble

Two purchases target the top prize. GOD MODE costs 1,689x the bet and sets up a chase for MAX on reel 1 and WIN on reel 5 in the same row, with an all-or-nothing result. GOD MODE DELUXE costs 8,360x and buys the maximum win directly, leading into the Double or Nothing gamble.

After a maximum win, Double or Nothing offers a 50/50 choice: double to 16,220x or lose the win. That is a pure coin flip with no edge in your favour, and the prices above show how much has to be staked just to be offered it.

Numbers and volatility labels

RTP is 96.03%, a house edge of 3.97%, or about $39.70 lost per $1,000 wagered. Hit frequency is 20.28%. A hundred spins cost $0.79 on average at $0.20, $3.97 at $1 and $19.85 at $5.

The cap of 8,110x equals $1,622 at $0.20, $8,110 at $1 and $40,550 at $5. Our catalogue says Very high volatility, while the studio's page says Extreme. Both put it at the top of the scale, so expect long stretches without a win.

Where it sits among Very high games

Nine To Five has the same 96.03% RTP and a 9,217x cap. Outsourced lists 96.08% and 5,000x, Crazy Ex - Girlfriend 96.09% and 9,999x, and Supersized 96.07% and 12,345x. All are rated Very high in the catalogue.

Pros

  • Inventive snake bonus with eggs, coins and multipliers
  • 3,125 base ways on a 5x5 grid
  • Max win of 8,110x, or $8,110 at a $1 bet
  • 20.28% hit frequency

Cons

  • Very high volatility, called Extreme by the studio
  • Bonus length is not fixed and can end quickly when Slayers appear
  • Boosted xBet costs 5% more and disables the bottom row
  • No free demo listed in our catalogue

Verdict

BRICK SNAKE 2000 swaps the usual free spin counter for a snake that plays until it dies, with an 8,110x ceiling and an optional 50/50 gamble above it. The 96.03% RTP gives a 3.97% house edge, and volatility is Very high or Extreme depending on the source. It suits players with a small stake and patience for dry runs. Treat the gamble and the expensive purchases with extra caution.
