Troll Hunters 2 review
Three fighters, Ylva, Borghild and Astrid, defend their village from an ice troll in this 2020 Play'n GO sequel. The game is a frosty 5 by 5 grid with cascading wins, and each hero stands for a different kind of Wild. A charging meter decides which Wild appears, while clearing a top row opens the Win Spins, where the Troll himself becomes a Wild. Volatility is Very high, and five RTP versions are on record.
Cascades and the three Wilds
Wins cascade on the grid, so one spin can pay more than once. There are three types of Wild, each with its own symbol. The standard Wild, represented by Odin the Allfather, replaces the middle symbol of any winning combination. Multiplier Wilds come as x2 and x3 symbols and are earned by filling the charging meter with certain symbols.
The charging meter
When the meter is full, whichever Troll Hunter is standing beside the grid at that moment supplies a Wild type and scatters it at random over the remaining symbols.
Astrid
Provides the Standard Wild when the meter fills while she is next to the grid.
Borghild
Provides the x2 Multiplier Wilds.
Ylva
Provides the x3 Multiplier Wilds.
Win Spins and the Troll Wild
Clearing all symbols from one of the top three rows in the base game triggers the Win Spins round. You then choose one of the three heroes. Each gives a different number of free spins and their own Wild for the duration of the round.
In Win Spins the charging meter changes its reward: instead of Multiplier Wilds it grants additional Win Spins. Each time one is triggered, a 2x2 Troll Wild is placed at a random spot on the grid, with the multiplier of the hero you picked added to it. The studio describes it as going toe-to-toe with the menacing foe.
