El Paso Gunfight xNudge review

El Paso Gunfight xNudge casts the gunslinger Dallas Stoudenmire as its hero, and lets you decide how he stands before the shooting starts. The stance setting reshapes the five reels, either heavy on the left or heavy on the right. On top of that come a nudging Stoudenmire Wild, badge raids that transform symbols, a respin for lining up the full cast, and free spins built around Wilds that jump between reels.

Pick a stance

Before spinning you choose between two layouts. The 4-3-3-3-2 stance puts four rows on the first reel and two on the last. The 2-3-3-3-4 stance flips that, starting narrow and ending wide, and the rules call it the more volatile of the two. Wins pay as ways from the left, so a narrow first reel makes each win harder to start but lets a wide last reel multiply the count when a combination does run the full length.

When both badges land, the area expands to 4-3-3-3-4, taking the wide end of each stance at once. The rules sheet does not print the exact number of ways for any layout.

Base game modifiers

Three mechanics can change a spin before it is paid.

Stoudenmire xNudge

The Stoudenmire Wild lands stacked and nudges until it is fully on screen. Each nudge raises its multiplier, within a range of x1 to x3 according to the rules. During the bonus it can be upgraded by landing on a reel holding a Jumping Wild.

Deputy & Marshal Raid

Deputy and Marshal badges transform symbols. One badge turns the low or the premium symbols into a single random symbol, which can line up far more matches. When both badges appear, the grid expands to 4-3-3-3-4 and the badges themselves become Wilds.

4 dead in 5 seconds

Triggered when all five character symbols, Stoudenmire included, are on screen together. The game respins with a Wild expanded across the three middle reels, which connects the outer reels through the centre for that respin.

Three kinds of gunfight

Three Scatters start 8 Gunfight Spins. The triggering Scatters turn into Jumping Wilds that move to new positions on every spin, so the Wild coverage stays but keeps changing place.

If a badge lands together with three Scatters, the round becomes Deputy or Marshal Gunfight Spins: the same moving-Wild framework with the raid transforms layered on top. With three Scatters and both badges, the top mode starts: 10 Drunken Gunfight Spins on the expanded 4-3-3-3-4 area with 5 Jumping Wilds, and a Stoudenmire xNudge Wild that can stay sticky. The rules call this the most volatile bonus in the game.

Every mode ends when its spins run out or when winnings reach 44,440x the bet, a cap the game names 6 feet under.

Odds, splits and two RTP figures

Our catalogue lists an RTP of 96.05%, a house edge of 3.95%, which comes to about $39.50 per $1,000 wagered over time. The official rules also quote a second figure of 94.26%, so a lower-return version exists; check which one applies before you play. Of the 96.05% total, the rules attribute 58% to the base game and 38.05% to the free spins, so a large share of the return arrives through the bonus.

The rules give a hit frequency of 28.48%, free spins roughly once in 245 spins, and a win of 100x or more about once in 720 spins. A 100-spin session averages $0.79 at a $0.20 stake, $3.95 at $1 and $19.75 at $5.

Volatility is Very high in our data and Extreme on the studio page. The 44,440x cap equals $8,888 at $0.20 and $222,200 at $5.

No sequels are listed. Bangkok Hilton is almost level on the cap at 44,444x with a 96.1% RTP, Infectious 5 xWays lists 96.02% with 55,555x, and Bounty Hunters 96.07% with 52,310x, all rated Very high.

Pros

  • Published odds: bonus about 1 in 245 spins, 100x wins about 1 in 720
  • Drunken Gunfight Spins combine 5 Jumping Wilds with a sticky xNudge Wild
  • Hit frequency of 28.48%

Cons

  • A 94.26% RTP version also exists
  • Very high volatility, Extreme on the studio page
  • Bonus Buy prices are only given as a 100x to 1,000x range

Verdict

El Paso Gunfight xNudge stands out for the control it hands over: you set the stance, and the rules publish unusually detailed odds. The 96.05% RTP means a 3.95% house edge, but a 94.26% version is also documented, and volatility is Very high, or Extreme by the studio. With 38.05% of the return in the free spins, expect long waits between meaningful wins and set a firm limit.
