The Dog House Multihold review
The Dog House Multihold is a 2023 follow-up to a 2019 original, and its big idea is multiplication of the board itself. The free spins start on one grid and can grow to four, with sticky multiplier wilds copied onto every new screen. The base game is a 20-payline slot on 5×3 reels. The catalogue lists one RTP, 96.06%, and no volatility or max win, and the rules show no bonus buy or ante bet.
Dogs, bones and twenty paylines
The slot is played on 5×3 reels with 20 paylines, and wins are made by landing matching symbols left to right across them. Breeds of dog, bones and collars fill the board. The rules count 14 symbols in all, of which 11 are regular symbols and one is a wild.
The wild matters in both modes. In the base game and the bonus it comes with a multiplier of 2x or 3x. If more than one wild is part of a winning combination, their multipliers are added together.
Seven free spins on one grid
Three bonus symbols trigger the feature with seven free spins, played on a single unlocked grid. Any multiplier wilds that land are held in place through the round, so the board accumulates value as the spins pass.
The rules distinguish between old and new wilds: wilds already on the screen stay sticky on every grid until the end of the round, while wilds that land later are sticky only on the latest grid.
Unlocking more grids
Scatters landing during the free spins are collected rather than ignored. Every group of three levels up the round and awards between one and three extra free spins, and each level up unlocks another screen.
Level-up and extra screen
Three collected scatters unlock a second grid, another three unlock a third, and a further three unlock the fourth and last. Each unlock brings one to three extra spins. At the maximum, four separate game boards are in play at the same time, so a single spin can pay on all four.
Copied wilds
When a new grid opens, the wilds and multipliers from the last screen are copied to the same positions on it. The held multipliers are transferred instead of being lost. A round that reaches the fourth grid therefore starts that screen with a head start.
The cost of play
The RTP is 96.06%, a house edge of 3.94%. Over a long run that is about $39.40 lost per $1,000 wagered. In 100-spin blocks the average cost is $0.79 at $0.20 a spin, $3.94 at $1 and $19.70 at $5, which is $500 wagered.
Volatility and max win are not published for this title. No bonus buy or ante bet is available, so the only route to the free spins is the scatters.
The original and similar 2023 games
The series has one earlier game, The Dog House from 2019, listed at 96.51%. Among 2023 releases with similar numbers, Secret City Gold (96.06%, 10,000x), Big Bass Amazon Xtreme (96.07%, 10,000x), Fire Archer (96.07%, 4,000x) and Zeus vs Hades - Gods of War (96.07%, 15,000x) have recorded max wins. Kingdom of The Dead lists 96.07% and African Elephant 96.04%.
Pros
- Wild multipliers of 2x or 3x in both the base game and the bonus
- Free spins can grow from one grid to four, with held wilds copied across
- No bonus buy or ante bet, so there is a single route to the free spins
- Free official demo available
Cons
- No volatility rating or max win in our catalogue
- Needs repeated scatters in the bonus to unlock extra grids
Verdict
The Dog House Multihold earns its name in the free spins: seven spins on one grid, multiplier wilds that stay in place, and up to four boards once scatters are collected. The base game is a standard 20-payline slot with 2x and 3x wilds. The 96.06% RTP means a 3.94% house edge, and volatility is not published.
