Zeus vs Hades - Gods of War review
Before the reels turn, this 2023 Pragmatic Play slot asks you to pick a side. Olympus brings the bonus more often with smaller average wins; Hades makes it rarer but richer when it lands. Both share one core idea: wilds that stretch over a whole reel and carry multipliers of up to 100x, which become sticky for the full length of the free spins. The choice changes the look, the risk and the price of a bought bonus.
Olympus or the underworld
The studio describes the two modes in terms of frequency and size. Siding with Zeus in Olympus raises the chance of triggering free spins but lowers the average bonus win. Siding with Hades does the opposite. Pragmatic Play also says the choice affects the volatility of the game, which makes Hades the higher-variance option of the two.
Neither mode changes the RTP listed in our catalogue. What changes is how the return is distributed: more frequent, smaller bonuses or fewer, larger ones. A player with a modest budget and limited patience may lean towards Olympus; one prepared for long gaps may prefer Hades.
Lines and expanding wilds
Wins pay along lines from left to right. A regular wild appears on all reels and substitutes for every symbol except the scatter. The more important symbol is the expanding wild.
Expanding wild
Can land on any reel in the base game and the free spins. If expanding would create a win, it stretches over the whole reel and takes a random multiplier: 2x to 10x in single steps, or 20x, 25x, 50x or 100x. The multiplier applies to every winning combination it joins, and when two or more such wilds share one win, their values are added together.
Ten free spins with sticky multipliers
Scatters only appear on reels 1, 3 and 5, and only in the base game. Three of them award 10 free spins. The round uses special reels, and it cannot be retriggered, so 10 spins is the full length every time.
What makes the round matter is persistence. Every expanding wild that lands during the free spins expands, draws a multiplier from the same list as the base game and then stays in place until the round ends. A wild that arrives on the second spin keeps contributing for the remaining eight. Because multipliers of wilds in the same win add up, two or three sticky reels with modest values can build a large combined factor.
Buy Free Spins
Prices depend on the mode. In Olympus, the standard round costs 75x the total bet; in Hades, 150x. Both modes offer a special version at 300x, in which one expanding wild with a random multiplier always lands in a random position on the first free spin, so the round begins with at least one sticky reel.
Return and session cost
The only RTP on record is 96.07%, a 3.93% house edge. That is about $39.30 for each $1,000 staked over the long term, or $0.79, $3.93 and $19.65 on average for 100 spins at $0.20, $1 and $5. The studio does not publish a volatility rating beyond the mode description.
The cap is 15,000x the bet, worth $3,000 at a $0.20 stake, $15,000 at $1 and $75,000 at $5. It sits at the far end of what the sticky multipliers can produce and should not be read as a target.
The 250 edition and 2023 peers
Zeus vs Hades - Gods of War 250 came out in 2026 with a higher 96.56% RTP, so the newer edition returns about half a point more on paper. Other 2023 Pragmatic Play releases at the same 96.07% include Fat Panda with a 20,000x cap, and Big Bass Amazon Xtreme and Country Farming, each capped at 10,000x.
Pros
- A real choice between a frequent-bonus mode and a rarer, richer one
- Expanding wilds carry multipliers up to 100x that add together
- Wilds stay sticky for all 10 free spins
- Free official demo available
Cons
- Free spins cannot be retriggered
- Bonus buys from 75x to 300x the bet are expensive
Verdict
Zeus vs Hades - Gods of War gives players a genuine dial for risk: Olympus for more frequent bonuses, Hades for rarer and bigger ones. Expanding wilds with up to 100x multipliers that stick through 10 free spins drive the 15,000x ceiling. The RTP is 96.07% and no formal volatility rating is published. Choose the mode that fits your budget and try the free demo first.
