Barbarian Fury review
Barbarian Fury is built on one idea, the nudge. A reel that is only partly visible moves until it is fully on screen, and each step raises a multiplier. Nolimit City uses that single mechanic in the base game, in a respin and in the Fury Spins bonus, where it even decides how many spins you get. The studio sets it in a harsh frozen wilderness with tribal fighters and beasts.
How a nudge pays
The grid is 5x4 and pays on lines, though the rules sheet does not print the number of lines. The key symbol is the xNudge Roaring Wild, a wild four rows tall that can appear on reels 2 to 4. If it lands partly in view, it always nudges until it fills the reel, and each step adds +1 to its multiplier. When several multipliers sit on the same winning line, they are added together, not multiplied.
Because the wild always nudges fully, a partly visible wild is not a waste. It is a way to build a multiplier on a spin that might otherwise pay little.
Barbarian Respin
Landing three or more of the same barbarian symbol triggers a respin. The matching barbarians nudge until fully visible and lock in place, and any wilds on the board lock too. The respin then plays with those locked symbols in position. Per the sheet, the respin is part of the base game and accounts for a share of the return on its own.
Fury Spins and the nudge count
Three or more scatters, described by the studio as wolves, start Fury Spins. The number of spins is not fixed. It equals the nudges needed to push the triggering scatters off the reel, with each nudge step worth one spin. Extra scatters during the round add one spin per nudge as well.
The wild multiplier is sticky here. It does not reset between spins, so each new nudge builds on the last. The round ends when the spins run out or the max win is reached.
Nolimit Bonus Buy
Fury Spins can be bought, and a bought round awards a random number of spins between 9 and 20. The sheet prints no price for the buy, so the cost is not stated in the pack.
Where the return sits
The headline RTP is 96.06%, and the studio sheet also lists 94.19%. That second figure is another published version the operator may run, so the version you are playing matters. At 96.06% the house edge is 3.94%, or $39.40 per $1,000 wagered. The sheet splits that figure into 49.48 from the main game, 22.26 from the respin and 24.32 from Fury Spins, which makes the respin and the bonus together nearly half of the return.
A 100-spin session costs $0.79 at $0.20, $3.94 at $1 and $19.70 at $5 at the headline version. The hit frequency is 23.92%, Fury Spins appear about once in 166 spins and a 100x win about once in 990. Those are long-run averages. The catalogue label is Medium volatility.
Cap and comparable games
The maximum win is 8,785x the bet: $1,757 at $0.20, $8,785 at $1 and $43,925 at $5. Our data lists no official free demo.
Among Medium-rated Nolimit games, Harlequin Carnival lists 96.14% and 5,861x, Immortal Fruits 96.06% and 2,787x, Tractor Beam 96.01% and 3,408x, Walk of Shame 96.04% and 9,822x and Benji Killed In Vegas 96.04% and 10,000x. Golden Genie And The Walking Wilds is rated Low, with 96.03% and 9,583x.
Pros
- One consistent mechanic across the base game, the respin and the bonus
- Sticky wild multiplier in Fury Spins that does not reset between spins
- Hit frequency of 23.92% is listed
- A clear cap of 8,785x at Medium volatility
Cons
- A lower RTP version of 94.19% is also published
- The number of Fury Spins depends on nudges, so it is hard to predict
- The bonus buy price is not printed
- No official free demo listed
Verdict
Barbarian Fury is a compact game for those who like a single mechanic explored in depth. The 96.06% RTP and Medium volatility are moderate, the house edge is 3.94%, and the 8,785x cap is a ceiling, not a typical result. Check which RTP version your operator uses, because a 94.19% variant exists too, and plan around the average cost, not the cap.
