Pirates Plenty review
Pirates Plenty asks you to finish a treasure map before it shows its full hand. Every Map Piece scatter moves you along, and reaching the end permanently opens a sixth reel that brings Mega Wild Ships into play. Red Tiger released the game in 2019 on five reels and three rows with 20 lines, a Monkey Wild in the main game and a free spins round built around keys and chests.
The map and the Treasure Reel
Map Pieces are scatter symbols that land at random until the end of the map is reached. Each one adds progress toward unlocking the Treasure Reel. Once unlocked, it stays unlocked, so the game is different after the map is complete than before it.
That persistence changes how sessions should be read. Early spins are partly an investment in the map, while later spins carry the extra reel and the Wild Ships it brings. Red Tiger does not publish how many Map Pieces the map needs, so there is no way to know in advance how long the first stage will take.
Mega Wild Ships
Wild Ships appear only when the Treasure Reel is unlocked. They can carry multiplier values of x2, x3 or x5, which lifts the wins they help form. Because they depend on the map, they are absent from the opening stretch and become a regular part of the game only after the sixth reel opens.
Monkey Wild
Available only in the normal game. When it lands, the monkey clears every low-paying symbol from the reels and new high-paying symbols fall into their place. The Monkey Wild then settles in the position of the last symbol it removed, so it also takes part in the resulting wins.
Ocean Spins
Three Ocean Spins symbols award ten free spins. During the round a ghostly captain may appear and hand out Treasure Chest keys. Three keys open a chest.
Each opened chest turns one or more low-paying symbols into wilds for the rest of the Ocean Spins and also adds more free spins. The effect builds: a second or third chest stacks more wild symbols on top of the first, so a round that opens chests early becomes progressively richer. Red Tiger does not state how many extra spins each chest adds.
Payback and session maths
The RTP is 95.7%, which means a 4.3% house edge. Put another way, $1,000 of total stakes loses about $43 on average in the long term. A 100-spin session costs about $0.86 at $0.20 per spin, $4.30 at $1 and $21.50 at $5.
Volatility is High. The hit frequency is 32.98%, roughly one paying spin in three. The max payout is 4,359x the bet: $871.80 at $0.20, $4,359 at $1 and $21,795 at $5.
Other voyages
Pirates Plenty Battle for Gold lists 95.72% with Very high volatility and a 5,501x ceiling. Pirates Plenty Megaways takes a very different line: 97.65% RTP, Low volatility and a 10,497x cap. Outside the series, Joe Exotic and Bass Boss both share the 95.7% RTP and High rating, with caps of 4,117x and 4,835x.
Who should sail
This suits players who enjoy long-term goals within a game, since the map rewards continued play with a permanently stronger setup. Short sessions may never see the Treasure Reel. With High volatility, a 4.3% house edge and no free demo in our data, small stakes are the sensible approach.
Pros
- Map progress unlocks a sixth reel that stays open
- Wild Ships with x2, x3 or x5 multipliers
- Chests in Ocean Spins add wilds and extra spins
- 32.98% hit frequency
Cons
- 95.7% RTP, about $43 per $1,000 wagered
- Wild Ships unavailable until the map is complete
- No free demo listed in our data
Verdict
Pirates Plenty rewards persistence: finish the map and a sixth Treasure Reel with multiplier Wild Ships stays open, while Ocean Spins grow stronger with every chest. The Monkey Wild keeps the base game lively. Against that, the 95.7% RTP means a 4.3% house edge, and High volatility means uneven sessions. The Megaways version lists a much higher RTP. Play with a fixed budget.
