Dynamite Riches review

Nothing is switched on when Dynamite Riches starts. Red Tiger's 2019 gold-mining slot locks its four features behind a fuse that only Dynamite Wilds can light, and each stage of the fuse opens one more. Once all four are running, the dynamite stops landing altogether. Add a Gold Spins bonus on a 5x4 grid with 20 lines, High volatility and a 5,341x ceiling, and you have a game whose character changes the longer it is played.

Lighting the fuse

Dynamite Wilds can land on any reel. Each one counts as a step of progress, lights the fuse and is then removed from the reels, which lowers the chance of landing the next one. The game moves through four stages, and finishing a stage unlocks a feature and starts a new round of progress.

The stages get longer: 6 Dynamite Wilds for the first, 7 more for the second (13 in total), 8 more for the third (21 in total) and 9 more for the fourth (30 in total). After the fourth feature is unlocked, no more Dynamite Wilds appear.

An unlocked feature fires on the very next spin and then at random on later spins. When more than one is unlocked, several can trigger on the same spin. That stacking is where the design pays off, for example high-paying symbols only and a multiplier on the same spin.

The four unlockable features

They arrive in a fixed order, so the early ones are the ones you will see most.

Remove Low-Paying Symbols

Unlocked after the first 6 Dynamite Wilds. When it triggers, every low-paying symbol is taken off the reels and only high-paying symbols land for that spin. It does not add wins by itself, but it raises the value of whatever lines do connect.

Random Wilds

Unlocked at 13 Dynamite Wilds in total. When it fires, a random number of wilds drops onto the reels. Red Tiger does not give a range for how many, so its impact varies from spin to spin, from a single helpful wild to a crowded grid.

Multiplier

Unlocked at 21 in total. It attaches a win multiplier to the next win that occurs. If it is active when Gold Spins start, it applies to the first win of the bonus; if still active when the free spins end, it carries back to the next base-game win, so it is never wasted.

Mega Wilds

The last unlock, at 30 Dynamite Wilds in total. When triggered, it places one or more oversized wild symbols on the reels, anywhere from 2x2 to 3x3 in size. A block of wilds that large covers several reels and rows at once, and it is the feature most likely to drive the biggest results.

Gold Spins

Three or more Gold Spins symbols anywhere on the reels award 8 bonus spins, and each symbol beyond three adds 2 more. The symbols can also land during the round: three or more add 4 spins, plus 1 for each extra symbol. Since unlocked features keep triggering at random, a bonus that arrives late in the fuse progression has more tools available than one that comes early.

Odds and costs

Red Tiger lists a 95.7% RTP, so the house edge is 4.3%: around $43 kept per $1,000 played on average. In 100-spin terms that is $0.86 at $0.20, $4.30 at $1 and $21.50 at $5.

The hit frequency is 29.52%, close to three paying spins in ten. The max payout is 5,341x the bet, which is $1,068.20 at $0.20, $5,341 at $1 and $26,705 at $5. With High volatility, that ceiling is a distant edge case.

Pros

  • Progression system that unlocks four features in a clear order
  • Multiplier never expires before it is used
  • Gold Spins of 8 or more with retriggers
  • 29.52% hit frequency

Cons

  • 95.7% RTP, a 4.3% house edge
  • Early play runs without any features
  • No free demo listed in our data

Verdict

Dynamite Riches stands out for its progression: 30 Dynamite Wilds unlock four features one by one, from removing low pays to 3x3 Mega Wilds, and Gold Spins benefit from whatever is already unlocked. It is a thoughtful design with High volatility and a 5,341x ceiling. With a 95.7% RTP and a 4.3% house edge, a fixed budget matters more than usual here.
