Rainbow Jackpots review

Pots of gold, horseshoes and pints of beer set the tone for Rainbow Jackpots, a 2016 Irish-themed release from Red Tiger. A Lucky Leprechaun wanders past the reels and, when he shows up on them, brings one of several bonuses with him. The base layout is simple, five reels of three rows with 20 lines, and most of the interest comes from picking features and random symbol upgrades.

Picking games

Two of the bonuses ask you to choose. Three Free Spins symbols open the free spins bonus, and three pots of gold appear; the one you pick reveals the number of spins. Three Beer Bonus symbols start an instant-win round in which you pick a mug, and the fuller the glass, the larger the prize.

Red Tiger describes both picks but publishes neither the spin counts nor the prize ranges behind them. The more interesting variant is the Triple Beer Bonus: instead of picking, the beer flows into all three mugs and all three prizes are collected.

The Leprechaun's extras

The remaining features come straight from the Leprechaun's pipe.

Mega Free Spins

A special symbol delivered directly from the Leprechaun's pipe. Red Tiger says it can lead to large numbers of free spins, but it does not state a count or how it differs from the standard round beyond that, so we treat it as a bigger version of the free spins award.

Symbol Swap

The Leprechaun blows random top-paying symbols out of his pipe and onto the reels. Red Tiger describes this as producing a win each time it hits. Since the added symbols are the best payers, the size of the win depends on how many land and where.

Mega Symbols

Huge 3x3 top-paying symbols land on the reels. One block covers nine positions on three reels, so a single Mega Symbol can sit on many of the 20 lines at once and combine with matching symbols on the remaining reels.

Odds, edge and ceiling

The RTP is 96.14% with a 3.86% house edge, or about $38.60 lost per $1,000 wagered over the long run. Expected cost for 100 spins is $0.77 at $0.20, $3.86 at $1 and $19.30 at $5.

Red Tiger rates it Medium for volatility, with a 16.4% hit frequency, so about one spin in six pays. The max payout is 1,054x the bet: $210.80 at $0.20, $1,054 at $1 and $5,270 at $5.

Spin-offs and comparable games

Rainbow Jackpots Megaways lists 95.77%, Very high volatility and a 20,000x cap, a very different risk level. Rainbow Jackpots Power Lines stays at Medium with 95.68% and 1,224x. Similar Red Tiger games include Lion Dance at 96.18% with 1,076x and Elven Magic at 96.12% with 1,094x.

Who it suits

The game suits players who like a mix of small pick-me features and random upgrades, without the long dry spells of a high-volatility game. The 1,054x ceiling is moderate. There is no free demo in our data, so small stakes are the way to find out whether the feature mix appeals.

Pros

  • Several features, from pick-a-pot free spins to 3x3 Mega Symbols
  • Triple Beer Bonus collects all three prizes
  • 96.14% RTP and a 1,054x ceiling

Cons

  • 16.4% hit frequency means many empty spins
  • Free spin counts are not published
  • No free demo listed in our data

Verdict

Rainbow Jackpots is a busy, moderate slot: pick-a-pot free spins, beer bonuses with a triple-prize variant, Symbol Swap and 3x3 Mega Symbols, all on a plain 20-line layout. The RTP is 96.14%, the house edge is 3.86% and the volatility Medium, with a 1,054x ceiling. It is light entertainment, best kept within a planned budget.
