Nitro Nights review

Nitro Nights is a Hacksaw Gaming street-racing slot on a 5x4 grid with 14 paylines. Its engine is the Nitro symbol, which switches on a feature called Burnout Mode and fills a bar outside the reels. Three separate bonus games hang off the scatter count, and a bonus buy and an ante option sit on top. The studio's own page is a single tagline, so the rules text is the real guide. The most unusual number is the RTP spread: four versions, from 96.31% down to 86.26%.

Fourteen lines on a 5x4 board

Wins are paid on fixed lines, counted from the leftmost reel to the right across adjacent reels. The game has 14 of them, and every wager covers all of them. The same win rules carry over into the bonus features unless the studio says otherwise.

Three kinds of wild appear in the rules: the standard Wild, the Wild Nitro and the Epic Wild Nitro, all of which act as substitutes. The paytable holds the symbol values, so check it in the demo before judging a combination.

Burnout Mode and the Nitrous Bar

Everything starts with the Nitro symbol. When one lands, it is turned into a Wild Nitro and the game pays out three things at once. The rules call the units stored in the bar Nudges, but the excerpt we hold does not explain what a Nudge does when spent, so we leave that to the in-game help.

Burnout Mode

Triggered by a landing Nitro symbol. At least 5 Nudges go into the Nitrous Bar outside the grid, which can hold up to 10 at once. Five Wild symbols are scattered over random positions, along with between 0 and 3 multipliers. A burnout can therefore add nothing in multipliers, so the size of the reward varies from one trigger to the next.

Three bonus games, three scatter counts

The number of free-spin scatters that land together in the base game decides which bonus opens. Three scatters give the mildest round and five give the strangest, so the sequence is an escalating ladder.

Bonus Game - Seoul

Three scatters open 8 free spins. The base mechanics stay as they are, with one change: Nitro symbols land more often. Since a Nitro symbol is what starts Burnout Mode, the round is mostly about seeing that feature more often.

Bonus Game - Tokyo

Four scatters open 8 free spins with a Global Multiplier that starts at x2 and sits outside the grid. It applies to all wins. Epic Nitro symbols can land, and they start Epic Burnout Mode, where the Global Multiplier climbs by 1 after every Nudge.

Hidden Epic Bonus - Fukushima

Five scatters open a single free spin. That one spin always lands a Nitro symbol and awards between 10 and 20 Nudges to a Super Nitrous Bar, which has no cap on stored Nudges. One spin carries all the weight, so expect very uneven outcomes.

Buying in and the four RTP versions

A bonus buy is available with four options, and an ante-style option exists as well. The studio's static rules do not print the cost multipliers, so read the price on the button before you confirm anything.

The headline RTP is 96.31%, a house edge of 3.69%, which costs about $36.90 per $1,000 wagered. The other versions are 94.34% (edge 5.66%, $56.60 per $1,000), 92.22% (7.78%, $77.80) and 86.26% (13.74%, $137.40). The lowest version therefore takes close to four times as much as the top one. Over 100 spins at $1, the top version costs $3.69 on average and the lowest costs $13.74. At $0.20 the two figures are $0.74 and $2.75, and at $5 they are $18.45 and $68.70.

Volatility, max win and hit frequency are not published in our data, so there is nothing to say about how rarely the large results arrive.

Where it sits among similar RTPs

Minted Mike lists 96.31% with Medium volatility, and Great Game Rockies has 96.33% with the same label. Mighty Masks is at 96.3% with High volatility and a 10,000x max win, while Chaos Crew (96.3%) and Beast Below (96.29%) both list 10,000x. Those peers publish a volatility or a ceiling; Nitro Nights does not.

Pros

  • Three bonus games with clear scatter thresholds of three, four and five
  • Global Multiplier starts at x2 in the Tokyo bonus and can rise during Epic Burnout Mode
  • Burnout Mode adds wilds, Nudges and multipliers from a single Nitro symbol
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • Volatility and max win are not published, so the size of the swings is unknown
  • The lowest RTP version has a 13.74% house edge
  • Bonus buy costs are not stated in the static rules

Verdict

Nitro Nights has a clear loop: Nitro symbols fill a bar, bonus games scale with the scatter count, and the Tokyo round adds a rising multiplier. The headline RTP of 96.31% is in line with the studio's peers, but the volatility is not published and one version drops to 86.26%. Look at the RTP first, treat it as paid entertainment with a 3.69% edge at best, and use the demo before any money is involved.
