Coins of Fortune review

Coins of Fortune puts old traditions and neon lights in the same city. Nolimit City sets the game in a south-east Asian metropolis, with mythical creatures and glowing signs, on a 5×3 grid with 20 fixed paylines. What separates it from a plain payline slot is that both of its features are respin features: a stacked dragon that slides down the reel, and scatters that walk across the screen. The studio's text says the bonus replaces traditional free spins.

Twenty lines and two respin modes

The base game is easy to describe. Wins pay left to right on 20 fixed paylines across five reels and three rows. Nothing about the layout is unusual.

The depth sits in the two respin features. According to the rules, neither one is a free spins round: the Dragon Nudge and the Lucky Respins both run as respins, and they are triggered in different ways.

How the features work

Each feature has its own trigger and its own way of building value. The two can also affect one another, because a Dragon Nudge during Lucky Respins feeds the multiplier.

Dragon Nudge

Three matching symbols on one reel start three respins. A stacked Dragon Wild overlays that reel and nudges down on each respin. Another matching Nudge during the feature prolongs it, so the count can be extended.

Lucky Respins

Three or more scatters trigger this mode. The scatters walk one reel to the left on each respin and are collected when they leave the grid. For every three scatters collected the multiplier rises by one. A Dragon Nudge in this round turns into coins that bump the multiplier.

Low volatility, or not?

Our catalogue rates the game Low. The studio's own page text, however, calls the maths medium-high. These two labels disagree, and we report both rather than pick one. The most useful number is the hit frequency of 27.97%, which means a little more than one spin in four returns a win. The same rules sheet puts the bonus at about one in 19 spins and a 100x win at about one in 1150.

The rules sheet also splits the RTP: 31.24% comes from the main game and 65.24% from the bonus features. Most of the return therefore sits behind features that arrive on roughly one spin in 19.

The cost of play

Coins of Fortune lists a single RTP of 96.48%, a house edge of 3.52%. Each $1,000 wagered costs about $35.20 on average. In 100-spin sessions the average loss is $0.70 at $0.20, $3.52 at $1 and $17.60 at $5.

The max win is 6,015x the bet, which is $1,203 at $0.20, $6,015 at $1 and $30,075 at $5. Our catalogue records no free demo for this game, so check the studio's page before assuming one exists.

Other low-rated Nolimit City games

Several Nolimit City titles carry the same Low rating. Gaelic Gold lists 96.15% and 9,837x, Warrior Graveyard xNudge 96.16% and 9,797x, and Golden Genie And The Walking Wilds 96.03% and 9,583x. Poison Eve reaches 6,091x at 96.08%, while Fruits and Hot Nudge cap at 2,910x and 2,413x with 96.23% and 96.29%.

Pros

  • Hit frequency of 27.97%
  • 20 fixed paylines on a plain 5×3 grid
  • Dragon Nudge gives three respins with a stacked wild, and a repeat prolongs it
  • Max win of 6,015x the bet

Cons

  • Catalogue says Low volatility while the studio text says medium-high
  • Most of the RTP (65.24%) sits in the bonus features, which trigger about once in 19 spins
  • No free demo recorded in our catalogue

Verdict

Coins of Fortune is a payline slot with two respin features and a 6,015x cap. Its 96.48% RTP is above all six similar Nolimit City games listed here, and its 27.97% hit frequency suggests a steadier ride, though the volatility label itself is disputed between sources. The 3.52% house edge still applies on every spin, and with no demo on record, read the rules carefully and keep stakes small.
