Cats of Olympuss review
The free spins in Cats of Olympuss are decided by a hand of cards. Push Gaming's divine-feline slot does not simply hand out a fixed number of spins: the number of Scatters decides how many cards you pick, and the cards decide the round. Coins on the reels pay on their own, and collecting special Coins in the bonus opens up a bigger reel array. The studio calls it a Progressive Free Spins Feature, and the name fits.
Coins, Wilds and the base game
Coin symbols can land in the base game and in the free spins. Their wins are paid from left to right, and a combination needs at least three of a kind. Wild symbols count towards that combination alongside Coins.
The studio does not give the grid size, the number of paylines or the Coin values, so the base game is described only at this level.
Scatters and card picks
Three or more Scatter symbols on reels two, three or four start the Free Spins Feature. Each extra Scatter adds one more card pick. Every pick set includes one Spins Picker Card, and the rest are Upgrade Cards.
Three and four Scatters
Three Scatters give two picks: a Spins Picker Card and an Upgrade Card. Four give three picks: a Spins Picker Card and two Upgrade Cards.
Five and six Scatters
Five Scatters give four picks, one Spins Picker Card and three Upgrade Cards. Six give five picks, one Spins Picker Card and four Upgrade Cards. The pack does not explain what each card does, so the value of an extra pick cannot be quantified.
Opening the next reel array
During the free spins, collecting 5 special Coins opens the next reel array and retriggers the Card Pick Feature. A round that gathers Coins well can therefore gain new picks while it is running.
Ways to reach the bonus faster
Two options change the cost of getting into the free spins. Bonus Buy sells the feature directly, with three choices: 3 Bonus Symbols, 4 Bonus Symbols or Random Bonus Symbols. Push Bet mode raises the base bet by 20% and, in exchange, makes the Shield Symbol more likely to land and trigger the free spins. The studio does not state the Bonus Buy prices or the exact change in odds.
RTP versions and cost
Two versions are on record. At 96.31% the house edge is 3.69%, about $36.90 lost per $1,000 wagered. At 94.26% it is 5.74%, about $57.40 per $1,000. The studio says the RTP can vary by operator and is shown on the loading screen.
A 100-spin session at 96.31% averages $0.74 at a $0.20 bet, $3.69 at $1 and $18.45 at $5. At 94.26% the same sessions cost $1.15, $5.74 and $28.70. Volatility and maximum win are not published for this game.
Similar RTP
DJ Cat lists 96.32%, Big Bite 96.33%, and Crystal Catcher, Fire Hopper and Shamrock Saints 96.3%. DJ Fox is at 96.28%. A difference of a few hundredths does not separate them, so features are the better way to choose.
Pros
- More Scatters mean more card picks, up to five
- Special Coins can retrigger the Card Pick Feature
- Bonus Buy with three options, and a Push Bet mode
- Free official demo available
Cons
- No volatility label or max win published
- A 94.26% version exists with a 5.74% house edge
- Card effects, grid size and buy prices are not in the source text
Verdict
Cats of Olympuss turns the bonus into a choice-based round, with card picks that scale with the Scatter count and Coins that unlock bigger arrays. The 96.31% version has a 3.69% house edge, but the 94.26% version costs more, and neither volatility nor max win is published. Push Bet and Bonus Buy both make play more expensive, so the free demo is the place to learn the cards first.
