Bizarre review

Bizarre sets a mad scientist's genetic experiments on a converted farm. Nolimit City gives the premise a 5x4 board, a splitting mechanic and a free spins round with its own preparation phase, in which the middle reels spin before the bonus even begins. A separate Coinage mode drops everything except coins and collectors. Volatility is Very high.

xSplit and the base game

The rules describe a ways game on a four-row, five-reel board, paying from left to right. The studio's text mentions a fixed 20-line layout instead; since the rules say ways, this review follows them.

The signature symbol is xSplit. It can land on the first and fifth reels only, either as a single block or stretching across all four rows. When it lands, it splits every regular symbol on the same row, which doubles their size and adds ways. Once the split is complete, the xSplit symbol turns into a Wild.

Chimera Spins

Three Scatters start the Chimera Spins. A Scatter on the middle reel turns into a sticky Wild. The round does not start straight away: the three middle reels first respin, collecting Wilds and extra spins until the setup is clean, and the Wilds won in this phase are sticky too.

The base number of spins is three, with more coming from the setup. A Wild that has been split also gets a sticky multiplier during the round. The round ends when the spins are done or the 20,000x cap is reached, and the rules also mention an optional Extra Spin.

Super Chimera Spins

Two regular Scatters together with a Super Scatter start this upgraded round with three spins. All of the triggering Scatters turn into sticky Wilds, and the normal Chimera rules apply on top.

Coinage

In this mode the board shows only coins and special symbols. Coins carry values from 1x to 1000x the bet. A Collector takes every coin value on the screen, and used Collectors stay in place for the Collectors that follow. xSplit doubles the coins and Collectors on its row. Coinage can lead on to Chimera or Super Chimera Spins when it ends.

Boosts and buys

Three paid options are available. xBoost costs 2 times the bet, places a Scatter on reel two (sometimes a Super Scatter) and raises the odds of the Chimera round to three times the normal rate. Bonus Hunt costs 30 times the bet and raises the odds 49-fold, but only Scatters and empty positions can appear, with at most one Super Scatter. Coinage costs 200 times the bet.

The studio does not list a free demo for this game.

Numbers and risk

RTP is 96.06%, which is a house edge of 3.94% and $39.40 lost on average per $1,000 wagered. Our catalogue rates the volatility Very high, and the studio describes it as Extreme. Both labels are published. The hit frequency is 24.59%, a little under one spin in four.

A hundred spins cost $0.79 at a $0.20 bet, $3.94 at $1 and $19.70 at $5. The cap of 20,000 times the bet corresponds to $4,000, $20,000 or $100,000 at those stakes. With sessions this uneven, a fixed budget set before play matters more than any bonus buy.

Comparable Very high games

AFK Airport Security lists 96.07% with a 19,693x cap, and Apocalypse Super xNudge matches Bizarre at 20,000x with 96.03%. Dead, Dead Or Deader (96.09%, 19,349x), Punk Rocker 3 (96.04%, 19,089x), True Kult (96.06%, 23,237x) and Tombstone: No Mercy (96.05%, 16,480x) complete the same group.

Pros

  • Setup respins prepare sticky Wilds before the Chimera Spins begin
  • xSplit doubles symbols on a row and then becomes a Wild
  • Coinage mode pays coins from 1x to 1000x the bet through Collectors
  • Three buy options, from 2x to 200x

Cons

  • Very high volatility, called Extreme by the studio, means long dry stretches
  • The base bonus has only three spins before setup additions
  • No free demo is listed on the official page
  • The studio text and the rules disagree on ways versus fixed lines

Verdict

Bizarre is a dense, high-variance slot where the preparation phase of the Chimera Spins matters as much as the spins themselves. The 96.06% RTP and 3.94% house edge are plain, the volatility is Very high (Extreme in the studio's words), and the 20,000x cap is the ceiling, not the expectation. Start small and treat the buys as optional extras.
