Alien Invaders review
Alien Invaders sends players on an intergalactic quest, and it plays unlike a standard grid. Each reel can show between three and five symbols, and wins are not read along lines at all. Instead, the bottom row acts as a gate: match three there and the whole reel set lights up. Symbols then explode, a multiplier rises with every ten of them, and the free spins keep that multiplier from one spin to the next.
The bottom row decides everything
On every spin, between three and five symbols land on each of the five reels. When at least three matching symbols land on the bottom row, those reels become active. All matching symbols on the active reels then count as a winning combination and explode.
The tumble feature follows. Winning symbols disappear, the remaining ones fall, and new symbols enter from above. It continues until a tumble creates no new win, and all wins from one base spin are added to the balance only after the last tumble has been played.
Scatters, wilds and the win multiplier
Every spin starts with a win multiplier of 1x. Each group of 10 exploding symbols adds 1x, and the current multiplier applies to wins as they happen.
Scatter
When it hits the bottom row, it explodes with all symbols next to it, horizontally, vertically and diagonally. Those symbols count as winning combinations and pay by their count. Scatters can land on all reels.
Wild
Wilds on reel three pay out when they hit the bottom row. They can carry a multiplier, up to 25x in the base game and up to 100x in the free spins. That value is added to the win multiplier.
Free spins that grow the reels
Three or more scatters across a base spin and all its tumbles award 7 free spins, plus 3 for each scatter beyond the third. In the round, each reel starts at 3 symbols. After every spin, a random reel can gain one, up to a maximum of 5, and it keeps that size until the round ends.
Win multipliers persist between spins in the bonus, which is the main difference from the base game, where the multiplier restarts at 1x each spin. That persistence explains why the round holds most of the 5,000x potential.
Ante bet and buying in
The bet multiplier can be 20x for normal play or 25x for the ante. The ante doubles the chance of reaching the free spins naturally by adding scatters to the reels, and it costs 1.25 times the usual stake. It switches the bonus buy off.
Without the ante, the free spins cost 65x the total bet. Super Free Spins costs 400x, and its win multiplier starts at 50x.
Numbers and alternatives
The only RTP on record for this 2025 release is 96.5%, so the house edge is 3.5%. Over the long run that means roughly $35 gone for every $1,000 staked. The catalogue carries no volatility label. Spread over 100 spins, the average bill is $0.70 on a $0.20 stake, $3.50 on $1 and $17.50 on $5 (that is $500 staked). The ceiling of 5,000x converts to $1,000, $5,000 and $25,000 at those three stakes.
Similar games include Bandit Megaways at 96.55%, Candy Blitz Bombs at 96.49%, Aztec Powernudge at 96.46% and Candy Rush at 96.58% from 2026, all with a 5,000x cap.
Pros
- Tumbles with a multiplier that rises with every 10 exploded symbols
- Multipliers persist between free spins, with wild values up to 100x
- Reels can grow from 3 to 5 symbols in the bonus
- An official free demo exists
Cons
- Volatility is not stated anywhere in our data
- The ante costs 1.25 times the usual stake
- Buying the bonus costs 65x or 400x the bet
- The 5,000x cap is shared by most of the similar games listed
Verdict
Alien Invaders replaces lines with a bottom-row gate and builds its value on a multiplier that persists through the free spins. The 96.5% RTP gives a 3.5% house edge, and most similar games share the 5,000x ceiling. Because volatility is not stated, try the free demo first, and think of the ante and the buy options as extra cost, not extra value.
