Cosmic Cash review

Aliens, blasters and UFO wilds fill the five-by-four grid of this 2022 release from Pragmatic Play. The 40 paylines handle ordinary wins, but the interesting part sits elsewhere. Six Money symbols throw the game into a separate respin mode played on special reels, and there is a second route to the bonus through three scatters. Between them, they give two distinct ways to leave the base game.

Paylines, wilds and scatter pays

The slot uses 40 paylines on five reels and four rows. Matches count from left to right on adjacent reels. The wild appears on every reel in the base game and the free spins, and it replaces everything except the scatter and the Money symbol.

Scatters pay in their own right. The rules list 2x the total bet for three, 10x for four and 100x for five. That makes a scatter hit worth something even if no free spins are the aim.

Money symbols and Cosmic Respins

A Money symbol can land on any reel. On every spin each one takes a random value from a fixed list that tops out at 100x the total bet. The values run through 0.375x, 0.5x, 0.625x, 0.75x, 1x, 1.25x, 2x, 2.5x, 3.75x, 5x, 10x, 20x, 25x, 40x, 50x and 100x.

Six or more Money symbols start Cosmic Respins. The base reels are replaced with special reels holding only Money symbols and blanks, so every stop is either a Money symbol or empty. The studio adds that extra cash symbols extend each row and can bring multipliers, jackpots or the free spins round, with an UFO award leading to the free spins. The rules we hold are cut off before the full respin procedure, so we describe only these points.

Cosmic Respins

Triggered by six or more Money symbols. The grid switches to special reels carrying only Money symbols and blanks. The studio says further cash symbols extend rows and award multipliers, jackpots or free spins.

Buy Cosmic Respins

The feature can be bought for 100x the current total bet. The round then starts with six Money symbols, each with a random value.

Free spins and retriggers

Three, four or five scatters award 10, 20 or 50 free spins. Hitting three, four or five scatters during the round retriggers it for 10, 20 or 50 more. Special reels with additional stacked wilds on reels 2, 3 and 4 are used.

The rules cap the maximum win at 2,650x the bet in both the base game and the free spins. A five-scatter trigger carries by far the largest spin count.

Maths and the RTP discrepancy

The catalogue lists an RTP of 96.55%, a house edge of 3.45% and about $34.50 per $1,000 wagered. The rules PDF gives a theoretical 95.58%. We treat the lower figure as another published version that an operator may run, so check the game info screen.

At 96.55%, a hundred spins cost $0.69 at a $0.20 bet, $3.45 at $1 and $17.25 at $5. The cap of 2,650x equals $530, $2,650 or $13,250 at those bets. Volatility is not published.

Comparable games

Bomb Bonanza lists 96.46% and 2,015x, and Big Juan 96.7% and 2,600x. Badge Blitz from 2024 has the same 96.5% as Happy Hooves, with a 3,000x cap against 5,000x for Happy Hooves and Release the Kraken 2.

Pros

  • Two ways into a bonus: six Money symbols or three scatters
  • Up to 50 free spins, with retriggers of 10, 20 or 50
  • Scatters pay up to 100x the bet on their own
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • Max win of 2,650x is modest for a feature-heavy slot
  • Catalogue RTP of 96.55% differs from the 95.58% in the official rules
  • No volatility label in our catalogue

Verdict

Cosmic Cash offers 40 paylines plus a Money symbol respin mode and a free spins round with up to 50 spins, all under a 2,650x cap. The catalogue RTP is 96.55%, a house edge of 3.45%, while the rules mention 95.58% as another version. Volatility is not published. Test the demo to see how often the respins start, and set a spending limit before real play.
