Wild West Gold review
Every wild in this 2020 Pragmatic Play western arrives armed with a multiplier, and in the free spins those wilds stop moving. The 5x4 grid fills with revolvers, gold and outlaws, but the rules come down to one idea: wilds on the middle reels carry 2x, 3x or 5x, add up when they share a line, and stay fixed through the bonus. A 10,000x cap and a 10x minimum bonus prize frame the round.
Multiplier wilds on every spin
Wins pay on paylines from left to right. The wild only appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 and substitutes for the regular symbols. Each time it lands it takes a multiplier of 2x, 3x or 5x, which applies to the win of every payline it is part of.
If more than one wild sits in the same payline win, their multipliers are added together. Two 5x wilds on one line, for example, give 10x on that line. The multipliers work in the base game as well as in the bonus, so the base game has its own route to larger hits.
Multiplier Wild
Lands on reels 2, 3 or 4 only, with a 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier attached. The multiplier applies to each payline the wild completes, and multipliers of several wilds on the same line are summed rather than multiplied.
The free spins showdown
Scatters appear only on reels 1, 3 and 5. Landing all three triggers the round with 8 free spins. Special reels are in play during the feature.
Inside the round, every wild that hits on reels 2, 3 or 4 stays on screen until the end. Its multiplier is revealed when it lands and does not change afterwards. A wild that sticks early therefore boosts every line it touches for the rest of the round.
Extra spins come from a scatter overlay that can appear on top of any symbol, including the sticky wilds. Two overlays add 4 spins, three add 8, four add 12 and five add 20. If the round finishes with a total below 10x the bet, the game pays 10x the bet instead.
Sticky Wilds
During free spins, all wilds landing on reels 2 to 4 lock in place for the remainder of the round with a fixed random multiplier. As more lock, more paylines carry one or several multipliers on every remaining spin.
Buy Free Spins
The round with 8 starting spins can be bought directly from the base game for 100x the current total bet. The 10x minimum prize still applies to bought rounds, but the gap between the 100x price and that floor shows how much a purchase can lose.
Price and payout limits
Pragmatic Play's rules give a theoretical RTP of 96.51%, the only version listed, and a house edge of 3.49%. Over many spins that averages about $34.90 per $1,000 wagered. On average, 100 spins cost $0.70 at $0.20, $3.49 at $1 and $17.45 at $5.
The maximum win is capped at 10,000x the bet: $2,000 at a $0.20 stake, $10,000 at $1 and $50,000 at $5. If a free spins round reaches that cap, it ends at once, the win is paid and any remaining spins are forfeited. No volatility rating is published, but a bonus where sticky wilds with summed multipliers drive the result points to a wide range of outcomes.
Other trails to follow
Two later titles carry the name. Wild West Gold Megaways from 2022 lists 96.44% with a 5,000x cap, and Wild West Gold Blazing Bounty from 2025 lists 96.48% with 7,500x. Both have lower ceilings than the original.
Among games with similar figures, Empty the Bank from 2021 pairs 96.48% with a 10,000x cap, Chilli Heat Spicy Spins from 2025 lists 96.58% and 10,000x, and Big Bass - Keeping it Reel from 2022 shares the 10,000x ceiling at 96.07%.
Best suited to
Players who want a straightforward line slot with a clear bonus goal will find it readable within a few spins: watch the middle reels for wilds and the outer reels for scatters. Because the free spins can end with as little as 10x the bet, the payout of the round is far from certain, and buying it at 100x is a high-risk choice that only fits a budget built for it.
Pros
- Wild multipliers of 2x, 3x or 5x work in the base game too
- Wilds stick for the whole free spins round with fixed multipliers
- A minimum prize of 10x the bet for every free spins round
- 10,000x max win and a free official demo
Cons
- The bonus buy costs 100x, ten times the minimum round prize
- No volatility rating published
- The round ends immediately at the 10,000x cap, forfeiting remaining spins
Verdict
Wild West Gold is built around one strong idea: multiplier wilds that add up on a line and lock in place for the 8-spin bonus, with overlay scatters extending the round by up to 20 spins. The RTP is 96.51% and the cap is 10,000x. No volatility rating is published. Play it as entertainment with a 3.49% house edge and treat the 100x buy with caution.
