Mahjong Wins Super Scatter review
Mahjong Wins Super Scatter is built on tiles that change their nature mid-spin. Pragmatic Play's 2025 release pays across up to 2,000 ways, clears winners with tumbles, and marks some tiles in gold so that they come back as wilds after they win. Its free spins add a climbing multiplier that tops out at 10x, and a Super Scatter symbol that, according to the studio, can award the 100,000x maximum.
Ways, tumbles and gold tiles
Wins are counted as ways: matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right, with up to 2,000 ways to win. The rules do not spell out the grid dimensions, so none are given here.
Every spin is followed by the Tumble Feature. Winning symbols vanish, the rest fall to the bottom and new ones fill the gaps from above. This repeats until a tumble produces no win, and the total is credited only after the last tumble of the spin.
Gold symbols
On any spin, ordinary paying symbols marked in gold can appear at random positions on reels 2, 3 and 4. When a gold symbol is part of a winning combination, it turns into a Wild for the next tumble instead of disappearing, which gives the chain a better chance of continuing.
Wild
Lands on reels 2, 3 and 4 and substitutes for every symbol except the scatter. Wilds also arrive through the gold symbol transformation during tumbles.
Scatter and Super Scatter
Two scatter types exist. The regular scatter can appear on any reel. The Super Scatter is limited to reels 2, 3 and 4. Any combination of three or more of either kind triggers the free spins.
The studio's game page says Super Scatters can award the 100,000x max win. The rules text in our source does not explain how that award works, so we pass it on as the studio's statement rather than describing a mechanism.
Free spins and the multiplier trail
Three or more scatters of any kind award 10 free spins plus 2 more for every scatter beyond the third. Landing three or more during the round retriggers it with another 10 spins, again plus 2 for each extra scatter.
Two things change inside the round. First, every symbol on reel 3 is gold, so each of them that joins a win will come back as a Wild for the next tumble. Second, wins carry a multiplier that starts at 2x and climbs with each tumble: to 4x, then 6x, then 10x. From the fourth tumble onward it stays at 10x, and it drops back to 2x once the tumbles of that spin are over.
Taken together, the gold third reel feeds wilds into the middle of the board and keeps chains going, while the trail rewards those longer chains with a higher multiplier. That pairing is where the round's value is concentrated.

The round can be bought from the base game for 100x the current total bet. On the purchased triggering spin, 3, 4 or 5 scatters land at random, so the number of starting spins still varies.
Return and the 100,000x ceiling
The official rules give a theoretical RTP of 96.5%, which matches our catalogue. The house edge is 3.5%, about $35 per $1,000 wagered over a long run. For 100 spins the average cost is $0.70 at $0.20, $3.50 at $1 and $17.50 at $5.
The maximum win is limited to 100,000x the bet. That is $20,000 at a $0.20 stake, $100,000 at $1 and $500,000 at $5. A cap that far above the buy price of 100x tells you the return is spread very unevenly: almost every round pays far less, and results near the top are extremely rare. No volatility rating is published for the game.
