Magic Money Maze review

Magic Money Maze is a short-rules game with one unusual feature. The base game is a 5 by 3 slot with ten paylines, and the bonus swaps the usual free spins for a maze board. Pragmatic Play released it in 2022 and rates it High volatility. Its premise, a maze guarded by presidents of the past, defines the bonus: how many of them are collected decides a final multiplier.

Simple base game

The grid is five reels by three rows, and wins pay along ten fixed lines from left to right. There are no tumbles, ways or expanding reels in the base game, and the game has no feature buy. Everything that makes it distinctive is held back for the maze, so the base game is mostly a way of getting there.

The catalogue marks the bonus as free spins, but the studio's rules call it Maze Feature Respins, and that is the name we use.

The maze feature

Three or more scatters start the Maze Feature Respins. The number of scatters sets how many lives you begin with: three scatters give none, four give one life and five give three lives. The studio's page adds that the bonus depends on the dice rolling in the player's favour.

On the maze board, each president can be collected once. The count decides the multiplier applied at the end of the feature. Collecting none or one gives x1, two give x2, three give x3 and all four give x10. The jump from three to four is the largest on the scale, which is where most of the top-end potential sits.

President multiplier

Applied once, at the end of the Maze Feature. It depends only on how many presidents were collected: x1 for none or one, x2 for two, x3 for three and x10 for four.

Return, volatility and money terms

The RTP is 96.61%, a house edge of 3.39%, which is about $33.90 lost per $1,000 wagered. Volatility is High and the maximum win is 10,000x the bet, worth $2,000 at a $0.20 stake, $10,000 at $1 and $50,000 at $5.

A hundred spins cost $0.68 on average at $0.20, $3.39 at $1 and $16.95 at $5. With High volatility, individual sessions can finish well above or below those averages. A free official demo is available.

Pros

  • A maze bonus with clear, easily explained multiplier steps
  • Rules are short, with ten fixed paylines
  • 96.61% RTP and a 10,000x cap
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • The bonus is the only major feature, so the base game is plain
  • High volatility means swings are expected
  • No feature buy to reach the bonus directly

Verdict

Magic Money Maze is a compact, High-volatility slot with a 96.61% RTP, a 3.39% house edge and a 10,000x ceiling. The maze bonus and its four-step president multiplier are easy to understand, and the free demo makes them easy to test. Treat the game as paid entertainment and plan around an average cost of about $3.39 per 100 spins at $1.
