Hot Fiesta review
Hot Fiesta turns the wild symbol into the whole point of the game. Pragmatic Play set it in a Mexican town on a 3x5 grid with 25 paylines, and every wild carries a multiplier that changes on every spin. In the free spins those wilds stop disappearing: they stay on screen and roam. Even the number of free spins is a lottery of its own, decided by a grid of pinatas.
Wilds that multiply
The wild appears on all reels and substitutes for every symbol except the bonus. At every spin, each wild gets a random multiplier of 2x, 3x or 5x. That multiplier applies to the total win of every payline the wild is part of.
If more than one wild sits on the same winning line, their multipliers are added to each other rather than multiplied. Two wilds worth 3x and 5x make an 8x line, for instance. The paytable also lists values for the wild as a paying symbol, 50 for three, 250 for four and 1000 for five, as shown in the rules.
The pinata free spins
Before the round begins, the game awards a random number of free spins from 9 to 27. This is settled on a 3x3 grid of pinatas. Each one explodes and reveals a number of spins, and the numbers are added together into a total.
The round then uses sticky roaming wilds. Every wild that lands remains on the screen until the end of the round, and it moves to a new random position on each free spin. Each carries a multiplier of 2x, 3x or 5x again. The studio highlights this as the place where the wild pinatas land with multipliers. The feature cannot be retriggered, so the spin total from the pinatas is the full length of the round.
Sticky roaming wilds
Free spins only. A wild that hits is kept until the round ends, then relocates at random on every spin. Its multiplier of 2x, 3x or 5x applies to the total win of each payline it takes part in.
Ante bet
An optional higher stake that increases the chance of landing the bonus symbols. The rules text describes it as raising the bet multiplier to 35x bet per line. It changes the price of every spin, and it does not remove the house edge.
RTP: 96.56% or 94.73%
The catalogue lists 96.56%, a house edge of 3.44%, which is about $34.40 lost per $1,000 wagered. The official rules document gives a theoretical RTP of 94.73% instead. Pragmatic Play lets operators pick between RTP versions, so the second figure is another published version a site may run.
On the 96.56% version, 100 spins at $0.20 cost about $0.69 on average, 100 spins at $1 cost $3.44, and 100 spins at $5, or $500 wagered, cost $17.20. Volatility is not published.
Max win
The maximum win is limited to 5,000x the bet. In money that is $1,000 at a $0.20 bet, $5,000 at $1 and $25,000 at $5. There is no bonus buy, so the free spins come only from the bonus symbols.
Other releases from 2021
Hot Fiesta has no sequels in the catalogue. Games with similar numbers include The Hand of Midas at 96.54%, Juicy Fruits at 96.51% and Floating Dragon Hold and Spin at 96.71%, each with a 5,000x cap and a 2021 release.
