Fortune Red Packets review

Fortune Red Packets takes a Minesweeper-style climb and dresses it in red and gold for Chinese New Year. BGaming released it in 2026 as a calm, low-volatility game with no reels and no paylines. You open one red packet per row on a 5x12 grid, and each packet holds either a golden coin or a firecracker. The whole game is about whether to open the next packet or take what the current row has earned.

The grid and the packets

The board has 12 rows with five packets in each. Four of the five hide golden coins and one hides a firecracker. You choose a single packet per row and the game reveals it. A coin unlocks that row's multiplier and moves you up to the next row. A firecracker ends the round at once and nothing is paid.

The studio notes that the stake is locked in from the start, so every choice counts. The only decisions are which packet to open and when to stop.

The multiplier ladder

Every step on the grid is marked with a multiplier. It starts at 1.23x on Step 1 and rises gradually to 14.28x on Step 12. When a coin is found, the multiplier of that row is applied to your total bet. The value for each row is marked on the board.

That 14.28x at the top is the figure in the studio's rules. Our catalogue does not publish a max win, so there is no second number to compare it with.

Cash out and the mini field

A dynamic cash-out amount updates as you climb, and you can claim it at any moment the button is active. Pressing Cash Out ends the round.

Cash Out

Shows the current winnings and pays them as soon as you press it. The round finishes right then, so a later row can no longer be reached.

Mini field

A button to the left of the bet opens a small version of the playing field. When a round ends you can see the whole layout there without scrolling up and down the main grid. It can stay open during play or be hidden with another tap.

What a climb costs

The RTP on record is 98.4%, which makes the house edge 1.6%. Over a long run that is about $16 lost per $1,000 wagered. For 100 rounds the average cost is $0.32 at a $0.20 bet, $1.60 at a $1 bet and $8 at a $5 bet, which is $500 wagered. The catalogue lists Low volatility.

Each round is a fresh random layout. A different cash-out row, or a habit of stopping at the same place, only changes how results are spread across rounds. It does not move the 1.6% edge, and the studio offers no pattern that would.

Place in the BGaming range

The studio describes the game as built for fans of Asian culture and of its Mine Gems, and calls it a Minesweeper-type game. Mine Gems has its own page and figures on this site, so compare the two there rather than here.

Pros

  • Very short rules: one packet per row, four coins and one firecracker
  • Fixed multiplier ladder from 1.23x to 14.28x
  • 98.4% RTP, a 1.6% house edge and a Low volatility label
  • Mini field shows the full layout after a round

Cons

  • No max win in the catalogue; the ladder tops out at 14.28x
  • One firecracker ends the round with no payout, whatever row you had reached

Verdict

Fortune Red Packets is a gentle step game with a clear price: a 98.4% RTP, a 1.6% house edge and a multiplier ladder that stops at 14.28x. It suits anyone who wants low volatility and a fast, readable round, and it asks for no strategy beyond choosing when to cash out. As with any game of chance, it is paid entertainment, and the free demo is a sensible place to learn the rhythm first.
