Mine Gems review

Mine Gems is BGaming's 2024 mining take on the Minesweeper idea. Under an ice-capped grid of 5 tiles by 12 rows sit diamonds and dynamite, and you climb the field row by row. Each row holds four diamonds and a single stick of dynamite. The higher you go, the larger the multiplier on your bet, but the dynamite is never far away. The choice is between walking to the top in one go and taking your win in careful steps.

Digging up the field

A round starts at Step 1 and works towards Step 12, the far end of the field. On each step you tap one of five tiles. Four of them hide diamonds and one hides dynamite, and the position of the dynamite is random. A diamond lets you advance to the next step. Dynamite ends your mining attempt on the spot.

Each row has its own multiplier. It begins at 1.23x on Step 1 and climbs to 14.28x on Step 12, so a deeper dig is worth more. The studio's wording is that you can stride to the final tile in one go, or cash out at any point.

Tools on screen

Two interface elements matter more than the rest.

Cashout

A dynamic sum shows what you would collect as you advance through the field. Tap Cashout whenever the button is active to claim it. Doing so finishes the round, so the remaining steps are left unplayed.

Mini field

A special button to the left of the bet shows a mini version of the playing field. After a round it displays the layout of the whole field, so you do not need to scroll the main grid up and down. You can leave it on during play or hide it with another tap.

The cost of the dig

Mine Gems carries a single RTP of 98.4%, a house edge of 1.6%. That equals about $16 lost per $1,000 wagered over a long run. In 100-round sessions the average cost is $0.32 at $0.20 a round, $1.60 at $1 and $8 at $5, which is $500 wagered.

The catalogue gives no volatility label and no max win. The highest figure in the studio's rules is the 14.28x multiplier on Step 12, which is a row value rather than a declared max win. Each round is independent of the last, so the cost of a session depends mainly on how many rounds you play.

Who it suits

The game fits anyone who wants to see the rules in a few seconds and prefers a low house edge. It asks for no knowledge of features or paylines. Because the dynamite position is random on every step, nothing about previous rounds tells you where it sits next, and no cash-out habit changes the long-run return. The 1.6% edge applies whichever step you stop on.

Pros

  • Four diamonds and one dynamite per row make the odds easy to read
  • Row multipliers from 1.23x to 14.28x are shown on the field
  • 98.4% RTP means a house edge of only 1.6%
  • Mini field shows the full layout without scrolling

Cons

  • No volatility label or max win in the catalogue
  • One dynamite ends the round and the stake is lost, however far you had climbed

Verdict

Mine Gems is a compact step game with a low house edge. A 98.4% RTP, 1.6% cost and 12 fixed multiplier steps make the numbers easy to follow, and Cashout lets you stop at any row. There is no volatility label or max win in our data, so judge the swings in the free demo. As with any game of chance, it is paid entertainment, not a way to make money.
