Divine Fortune Black review
NetEnt calls this 2025 release the darker twist on ancient legend. It runs on five reels and three rows with 20 lines, and almost everything happens through Re-Spins in which special symbols stay on the board and slide down one position at a time. The bonus is a choice, not a single round: Divine Spins focus on expanding symbols, Fortune Spins on Mystery symbols that can hide jackpots. Volatility is rated Very high, and the max win is 20,000x the bet.
Symbols that stay and fall
A Re-Spin is awarded whenever one or more Wild, Cash Prize or Jackpot symbols land in the main game. They stay put and move down one position with each Re-Spin, and the sequence carries on until none of them are left on the reels. When the last one drops out of view, a final Re-Spin is played.
If a Wild lands directly behind another Wild, or a Cash Prize or Jackpot lands behind one of the same type, the symbol expands to fill the entire reel, unless another special symbol is in the way. Expanded symbols also move down with each Re-Spin.
Wilds, prizes and collectors
Where each symbol can appear is fixed in the main game. Wilds, Cash Prizes and Jackpots land on reels 2, 3 and 4, while the Fortune Collector sits on reels 1 and 5. The split matters because a collector only pays when a prize is on screen with it.
Wild
Appears on reels 2, 3 and 4 and substitutes for every symbol except Scatters, Cash Prizes and Jackpots. It starts Re-Spins and expands when a second Wild lands behind it.
Cash Prizes and Jackpots
Cash Prizes run from 1x to 20x the bet. Jackpot symbols are fixed: Minor at 25x, Major at 250x and Mega at 2,500x the bet. Both sit on reels 2, 3 and 4 in the main game and anywhere in Fortune Spins.
Fortune Collector
Lands on reels 1 and 5 in the main game and anywhere in Fortune Spins. When at least one is on screen with Cash Prize or Jackpot symbols, it collects their values. If several land, each one collects all of the values.
Free spins: Divine or Fortune
Three or more Scatters trigger the free spins, and the player picks the mode. Divine Spins award a number of spins that depends on the scatters: 5 for three, 8 for four and 12 for five. In that mode Wilds, Cash Prizes and Jackpots expand to cover their whole reel, again unless another special symbol is present.
Fortune Spins are the other option, with Mystery symbols that can hide jackpots and with collectors and prizes allowed anywhere. The studio also mentions an Elevate Feature that unlocks greater rewards, but the material we hold does not explain how it works, so we do not describe it here.
The maths
One RTP is recorded: 96.26%, a house edge of 3.74%. Over a long run that is about $37.40 lost per $1,000 wagered. In short sessions, 100 spins at $0.20 cost $0.75 on average, at $1 they cost $3.74, and at $5, or $500 wagered, $18.70.
Volatility is Very high and the hit frequency is 31%. The max win is 20,000x, which means $4,000 at a $0.20 bet, $20,000 at $1 and $100,000 at $5.
The original and similar slots
The first Divine Fortune (2017) lists 96.59%, High volatility and a 1,000x max win. The sequel gives up about a third of a point of RTP but multiplies the ceiling twentyfold.
Other Very high slots with comparable numbers include Jack and the Beanstalk 2 (96.32%, 20,000x), Mine Blown (96.15%, 20,000x), Jelly Belly Megaways (96.08%, 20,000x), Beach Invaders (96.09%, 20,847x), Mummy Megaways (96.2%, 16,321x) and Rome: The Golden Age (96.06%, 19,000x).
Pros
- Two free-spin modes, so the bonus is chosen rather than fixed
- Fixed jackpot values of 25x, 250x and 2,500x the bet
- A 31% hit frequency is published
- A 20,000x max win
Cons
- Very high volatility with a lower RTP than the original game
- Several mechanics interact, and the Elevate Feature is not explained in our sources
Verdict
Divine Fortune Black builds its game on falling Re-Spin symbols, collectors and a choice between two bonus modes. The 96.26% RTP carries a 3.74% house edge, volatility is Very high and the top prize is 20,000x. It is paid entertainment that costs about $37.40 per $1,000 wagered on average, and it fits players who like layered features and accept uneven sessions.
