Druids' Dream review
Druids' Dream puts the whole game on two reels. Wilds that land on reel 2 or 4 can be charged by a Scatter, nudged towards a second Scatter, or both, and everything from the Re-Spins to the free spins hangs on them. NetEnt's 2020 forest slot has five reels, four rows and Win Both Ways pays. It is rated High, with a 96% RTP, yet its max win is a modest 700x the bet.
Reels 2 and 4 are the engine
The board has five reels and four rows with 40 lines, and wins are paid in both directions. The studio lists stakes from €0.20 to €400.00. The look is glowing woodland colours with a relaxing Celtic soundtrack.
Stacked Wilds are the trigger for the special features. What happens depends on a single question: did a Scatter land with the Wild? If so, the Wild is charged. If not, the Nudge feature applies.
Charged Wild and Re-Spins
In the main game, a Wild on reel 2 or 4 that lands together with one Scatter becomes charged and starts the Re-Spins. Each charged Wild awards a Re-Spin, so more than one charged Wild on the same spin means more re-spins.
Nudge
One or more Wilds on reel 2 or 4 without a Scatter activate the Nudge, which gives a chance of landing the second Scatter. The reel that started the feature does not re-spin. Instead, it is nudged by one or several positions after each Re-Spin.
Free spins from two Scatters
The free spins start when Scatter symbols land on both reels 2 and 4, which awards 6 spins. This explains the Nudge: it exists to help the second Scatter arrive.
The same two reels matter inside the round. Wilds that land on reel 2 or 4 together with a Scatter become charged, and each charged Wild adds one more free spin. A Scatter on reel 3 awards 3 additional free spins. The studio text available to us does not describe multipliers in the round, so we do not mention any.
High volatility, modest ceiling
Druids' Dream has one RTP on record, 96%, a house edge of 4%. That costs about $40 per $1,000 wagered. The hit frequency is 24%, and the volatility is rated High.
At $0.20, 100 spins cost $0.80 on average. At $1 they cost $4 and at $5 they cost $20. The max win is 700x the bet, which is $140 at $0.20, $700 at $1 and $3,500 at $5. High volatility usually points to a large top prize, but here the ceiling is lower than in the other High games below, so the swings come from the feature structure rather than from a distant top prize.
Other High volatility slots
Buckshot Wilds lists 96.05% and 800x, and Wild Bazaar 96.15% and 800x. Buster's Bones reaches 900x at 96.07%, Willy's Hot Chillies 1,000x at 96%, Finn's Golden Tavern 1,100x at 96.1% and Riches of Midgard: Land and Expand 1,200x at 96.03%. Druids' Dream has the lowest max win of the group.
Pros
- Win Both Ways pays in either direction across 40 lines
- A clear structure: one question on reels 2 and 4 decides charge or nudge
- Charged Wilds add free spins as well as re-spins
- Free official demo available
Cons
- A 700x max win is low for a High volatility game
- Both bonus routes depend on landing Wilds and Scatters on specific reels
Verdict
Druids' Dream is built on reels 2 and 4, where charged Wilds, Nudges and Scatters decide the bonus. The result is easy to follow, but it pairs High volatility with a 700x ceiling, the lowest in its group. A 96% RTP means a 4% house edge, about $40 per $1,000. Treat it as paid entertainment and try the free demo to see how often the reels line up.
