Black Bull review
Black Bull is a money collect game from Pragmatic Play, released in 2022. Cash bags appear on the reels, each with a value picked at random, and a wild does the gathering. Six or more money symbols open a free spins round that is described as progressive, and the starting value of that progression comes from the symbols that triggered it. The studio sets the ceiling at 4,500x the bet.
Money symbols and the collecting wild
The studio describes a five-by-four board that pays on lines from the left. The wild appears on all reels and substitutes for every symbol except money. The money symbol also appears on all reels, and at each spin it takes a random value from a fixed set of total-bet multiples: 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 7.5x, 10x, 20x and 50x.
These values are only paid out through the wild. If at least one wild lands together with money symbols, then for each wild the total value of all money symbols on the screen is awarded. Two wilds with the same money symbols on screen therefore pay that total twice. This makes the base game a waiting game for the two to meet on the same spin.
Free spins: counting the coins
Six or more money symbols trigger the free spins, and the number of symbols decides the length. Six to 11 award 6 spins, 12 to 17 award 8 spins and 18 to 20 award 10 spins. On a board with 20 positions, the top band means almost a full screen.
Before the round begins, the values of all triggering money symbols are added together and collected. That sum becomes the starting value of the progressive feature. During the round, values of the money symbols that land are collected too, and the studio says wilds, extra free spins and more can keep occurring as the progression builds. The pack text for the exact progression rule is cut off, so we do not describe how the totals grow beyond this.
Money collection
Each wild that lands with money symbols pays the sum of every money symbol visible. The values range from 0.5x to 50x the total bet per symbol.
Progressive free spins
The starting value comes from the money symbols that triggered the round. Values collected during the spins are added to that progress, and the number of spins is 6, 8 or 10 according to how many symbols started it.
RTP, costs and a lower figure in the rules
The catalogue lists a single RTP, 96.51%, a house edge of 3.49%. The official rules document gives a theoretical 95.12%, which we read as another published version that an operator may run, so check the game's info screen. At the catalogue figure, $34.90 is lost per $1,000 wagered. One hundred spins cost about $0.70 at $0.20, $3.49 at $1 and $17.45 at $5 (a total of $500 wagered).
Volatility is not published. The cap is 4,500x the bet: $900 at $0.20, $4,500 at $1 and $22,500 at $5. There is no bonus buy and no ante bet, so the only road to the free spins is through the base game.
Other 2022 games near 96.5%
Colossal Cash Zone, Happy Hooves and Release the Kraken 2 each list 96.5% with a 5,000x cap. Eye of Cleopatra and John Hunter and the Book of Tut Respin list 96.5% with 4,000x, and Clover Gold lists 96.54% and 5,000x. The 4,500x here sits between the two groups.
Pros
- Wilds multiply the effect of money symbols, since each wild collects the full on-screen total
- Free spins start with a value carried over from the triggering symbols
- Simple trigger: six or more money symbols
- Free official demo available
Cons
- Volatility is not published
- No bonus buy, so reaching the free spins depends on the base game
- The official rules mention a lower 95.12% RTP
- Part of the progressive rule is not readable in our data
Verdict
Black Bull is a focused money collect slot: random cash values, wilds that gather them, and a free spins round that begins with the value of the symbols that opened it. The headline RTP is 96.51%, the house edge 3.49% and the cap 4,500x, with volatility unpublished. It suits players who prefer one mechanic over many. As with any slot the house edge is a real cost, so try the free demo and set a limit.
