Big Boat Big catch review
A cheerful angler is the star of this 2025 BGaming release, and he does more than decorate the reels. In the free spins he acts as a collector, picking up the cash values printed on the Fish and feeding a counter that unlocks extra batches of spins with rising multipliers. The setting is light-hearted, but the volatility is Very high.
Lines, fish and fishing gear
The grid is 5x4 with 10 paylines. Symbols include the angler Wild, fishing gear, colourful clams and Fish. Every Fish carries a random sum, and in the base game three or more of them on a winning line pay the amounts shown on them.
That makes the Fish an unusual symbol: its value is printed on the symbol itself rather than fixed in a paytable, so the size of a line depends on which Fish landed.
How the free spins grow
Three, four or five Bonus symbols anywhere on the reels start the round with 10, 15 or 20 free spins. Inside the round the angler Wild changes the game, because Fish symbols appear on reels 2 to 5 and pay only when a Wild drops.
Every fourth Wild adds 10 more spins, played after the initial spins finish. Each batch has a higher multiplier on the total win of every spin: x2 for the first, x3 for the second and x10 for the third. The studio says the round can extend to 30 or more free spins.
Wild
In the free spins it can land on any reel and substitutes for every symbol except Bonus and Fish. It also collects the Fish values on screen and counts towards the next batch of extra spins.
Fish symbol
Shows a random sum. In the main game, three or more on a winning line pay that sum. In the free spins the Fish appear on reels 2 to 5 and are paid only if a Wild lands.
Bonus symbol
Appears on any reel in the main game. Three or more in a single spin trigger the free spins.
Chance x2 and Buy Bonus
Two optional tools sit beside the main game. Chance x2 raises the bet to improve the odds of reaching the free spins. Buy Bonus sells the round at the price on its button, which follows the stake. The two cannot be active at once: turning on one disables the other.
The maths
One RTP is listed, 97.2%, so the house edge is 2.8% and about $28 is lost per $1,000 wagered over a long run. A 100-spin session costs on average $0.56 at $0.20, $2.80 at $1 and $14 at $5, which is $500 wagered.
Our catalogue gives no max win and no hit frequency, and the studio text we hold states neither. Free spin multipliers of x2, x3 and x10 are the only multipliers it names.
Comparable 2025 slots
Similar games in the catalogue are all from 2025 and rated Very high: Backyard Grill, Lucky Turkey and UFO Pyramids at 97.17%, Sakura Riches 60 at 97.16%, Wild Card Gang at 97.25% and Wild Wick at 97.35%. Big Boat Big Catch sits in the lower half of that range.
Pros
- 97.2% RTP, a 2.8% house edge
- Free spins can be extended in batches with multipliers of x2, x3 and x10
- Compact 5x4 grid with 10 paylines
- Free official demo available
Cons
- Very high volatility, so the bonus may be slow to arrive
- No max win or hit frequency in the catalogue
- Fish pay in free spins only when a Wild lands
Verdict
Big Boat Big Catch has a clear idea: Fish carry the value and the Wild collects it. The 97.2% RTP and Very high volatility mean the money sits in the free spins, where every fourth Wild adds spins with multipliers up to x10. With a 2.8% house edge and no published max win, it is best treated as paid entertainment. Try the demo first.
