Big Bass Splash review

Big Bass Splash keeps the fishing formula of collecting wilds and cash-carrying fish, then adds two twists that change how the bonus starts. Two scatter-rescue tricks in the main game can turn a near miss into a trigger, and before the free spins begin, up to five random modifiers are attached to the round. Pragmatic Play released it in 2022, and its fish can carry values of up to 5,000x the total bet.

A line slot that waits for the catch

Outside the bonus, this is a payline game read from left to right. The fish are both regular paying symbols and money symbols, so each one shows a random cash value on every spin. The full list runs 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 200x, 500x, 1,666x, 2,500x or 5,000x the total bet.

Those values cannot be banked in the main game. They become payable only during the free spins, when the wild appears on all reels and substitutes for everything but the scatter. The base game is therefore about line wins and, above all, getting the scatters to line up.

Two ways a near miss can still trigger

Whenever exactly two scatters land without a third, the game can randomly step in with one of two helpers.

Scatter respin

If the scatters on screen can move down one position without leaving the reel area, a respin may trigger. The reels holding scatters shift one step down while every other reel spins again, giving another shot at the missing third scatter.

Hook

At random, a hook pulls one of the reels upward to reveal another scatter. It is the more direct of the two helpers, since it adds the scatter rather than offering a fresh spin.

The bonus: modifiers, wilds and the 10x step

Scatter count sets the starting length: 10 spins for three, 15 for four and 20 for five. Before the first spin, between 0 and 5 modifiers are randomly chosen for the round. The studio lists extra money symbols, extra wilds and extra spins among them, so two bonuses with the same scatter count can begin on very different footing.

During the spins, a wild landing alongside fish collects their money values. Wilds are also counted, and every fourth one retriggers the feature with 10 additional spins. The first retrigger applies a 2x multiplier, the second 3x and the third 10x. That sequence is the clearest path to the top of the range; a round that never reaches four wilds stays at face values.

Buy Free Spins

The round can be bought from the base game for 100x the current total bet. On the purchased trigger, 3, 4 or 5 scatters land at random, so the number of starting spins is not fixed by the purchase. The price stays at 100x whatever the result.

Price and cap

A single version is recorded at 96.71%, so the house edge is 3.29%. Spread over $1,000 in bets, the expected cost is $32.90. Over 100 spins that becomes $0.66 at $0.20, $3.29 at $1 and $16.45 at $5.

Payouts stop at 5,000x the bet. That equals $1,000 on a $0.20 spin, $5,000 on $1 and $25,000 on $5, and it matches the largest fish value, which suggests a single top-value catch can reach the limit. The studio publishes no volatility rating for this one.

Related fishing titles and peers

Big Bass Splash 1000 appeared in 2025 at 96.52%. Big Bass Christmas Bash from 2023 shares the 96.71% RTP and the 5,000x cap. Other 2022 releases with close numbers include Hot to Burn Extreme at 96.65% and Gold Party at 96.5% with a 5,163x ceiling.

For someone who likes a single, readable bonus with some variety at the start, the modifier draw adds interest without new rules to learn. The bonus buy is a costly shortcut, and because fish cash is locked until the free spins, quiet base-game runs are part of the deal.

Pros

  • Up to five random modifiers make each bonus start differently
  • Retrigger multipliers step from 2x to 3x to 10x
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • Fish values pay only in the free spins
  • The bonus buy costs 100x the bet with a random scatter count
  • No volatility rating is published

Verdict

Big Bass Splash refines a simple fishing loop with scatter helpers in the main game and a random set of 0 to 5 modifiers before each bonus. Its 96.71% RTP is high for Pragmatic Play, though volatility is unrated and the fish only pay during free spins. The 5,000x cap equals the top fish value. Try the free demo, set a budget and treat the 3.29% edge as the cost of the entertainment.
