Babylon Riches review

Babylon Riches asks you to count. NetEnt's 2024 ancient-world slot works in cycles of eight spins, and the interesting events are held back for the last spin of each cycle. Along the way, non-paying Special Symbols leave frames on the grid. When the eighth spin arrives, all those frames open at once and turn into Wilds, Wild multipliers or symbol multipliers. It is a 5x3, 20-line game with a Very high label and a 7,250x maximum.

Frames and the eighth spin

A Special Symbol does not pay by itself. In the main game it can leave a frame on its position, and the frame stays until the eighth spin. A Special Symbol that lands on the eighth spin acts as a frame straight away.

On each eighth spin, every frame and every newly appeared Special Symbol is transformed into one of three results. The studio also states that Wilds in this game can come only from frame reveals, which makes the eighth spin the one moment where Wilds can enter the main game.

The three reveals

Each reveal changes the value of a line in a different way. Where several multipliers join the same line, the game adds them before applying the total.

Regular Wild

Substitutes for all paying symbols and counts as the symbol that forms the highest winning combination on a single win line. It carries no multiplier of its own.

Multiplier Wild

Works like the Regular Wild but also applies a displayed multiplier of x2, x3 or x8 to every win line it takes part in. If several Wilds with multipliers sit in the same line, their multipliers are summed before being applied.

Symbol Multiplier

Reveals a multiplier for the symbol itself, worth x4, x6 or x16, which applies to all win lines in which that symbol participates. As with the Wilds, multiple symbol multipliers in one line are summed.

Free spins and Feature Buy

Two Scatters on reels one and five award 8 free spins. Two more on the same reels during the round add 8 extra. Frames from the main game do not carry over. Instead, each free spin brings new frames and prize reveals, with 2 to 8 frames per spin. The studio adds Cash Prizes to the round, but its text is cut off before the amounts, so none are quoted here.

Feature Buy opens the free spins directly. The price is not given in the source text.

What the numbers say

The RTP is 96.13%, a house edge of 3.87%, which costs about $38.70 per $1,000 wagered. The hit frequency is 21.02%, so about one spin in five pays. A 100-spin session averages $0.77 at a $0.20 bet, $3.87 at $1 and $19.35 at $5.

The maximum win is 7,250x the bet: $1,450 at $0.20, $7,250 at $1 and $36,250 at $5. The Very high label and the eight-spin rhythm mean that most of the action is concentrated in a small share of spins.

Other Very high volatility games

No other Babylon Riches title is in the catalogue. Wild Turkey Megaways lists 96.05% and 7,239x, Milkshake XXXtreme 96.04% and 7,100x, and Gods of Gold: InfiniReels 96.21% and 7,300x. Reel Rush XXXtreme and Reef Raider reach 8,130x and 8,700x respectively, and Magic Lab tops out at 5,999x.

Pros

  • Eight-spin cycle makes the key event predictable in timing
  • Wild multipliers of x2, x3 and x8 and symbol multipliers up to x16
  • Multipliers in the same line are summed
  • Feature Buy available, and a free demo

Cons

  • Very high volatility
  • Cash Prize amounts and the Feature Buy price are not in the source text
  • Wilds come only from frame reveals

Verdict

Babylon Riches is a slot built around a countdown. A 96.13% RTP with a 3.87% house edge and Very high volatility describe a game where the payoffs bunch around the eighth spin of each cycle. The summed multipliers can add up fast, but that is potential, not a promise. Try the free demo to see how the frames build before deciding on a stake.
