Big Money Wheel review

NetEnt dresses its 2024 slot as a game show, and the wheel is the finale. Coins with multipliers drive the base game and re-spins. A colossal scatter opens free spins on a larger grid, where coins and Mystery symbols keep the round alive and a single spin of the Big Money Wheel decides how much the Mystery symbols are worth. The catalogue lists a 96.07% RTP, a Very high volatility label, a 22% hit frequency and a 12,000x max win.

Coins, colossal coins and re-spins

Wilds can appear on reels 3, 4, 5 and 6 and substitute for everything except the scatter and coin symbols. The coin is the focus. In the main game, re-spins and free spins, coins with a random multiplier of x1, x2, x5, x10 or x25 can land anywhere on the reels. The higher values, x50 and x100, appear only on reels 1 and 2.

Colossal Coins are 2x2 symbols that can land only on reels 1 and 2. In the main game, a Colossal Coin that appears together with at least one other coin triggers a re-spin. If at least one coin lands during the re-spins, another re-spin follows.

Free spins and the wheel

A Colossal Big Money Wheel Scatter on reels 1 and 2 activates the free spins on a 4x6 play area. The round starts with 3 free spins. Any coin or Mystery symbol that lands resets the counter to 3, and all symbols stay on the reels until the end of the round.

When the counter reaches 0 and at least one Mystery symbol is on the reels, the wheel spins once. It offers multipliers of x5, x10, x25, x50, x100, x250, x500 and x1,000, plus Double and Triple outcomes, and the result is applied to the Mystery symbols on the reels.

Double

Wins a bonus spin where only multipliers are available. The multiplier obtained in that spin is doubled.

Triple

Wins a similar bonus spin in which the multiplier obtained is tripled.

Buy Feature

Free spins can be bought for 90x the bet, starting with 1 Mystery symbol in place, or for 150x the bet, starting with 3 Mystery symbols in place.

RTP, hit rate and cost

Big Money Wheel has one RTP on record, 96.07%, a house edge of 3.93% and about $39.30 lost per $1,000 wagered. The hit frequency is 22%, so roughly one spin in four or five returns something.

A 100-spin session costs on average $0.79 at a $0.20 bet, $3.93 at $1 and $19.65 at $5. The 12,000x max win equals $2,400 at $0.20, $12,000 at $1 and $60,000 at $5. The purchase prices of 90x and 150x are added to that cost when used.

Pros

  • Coin multipliers up to x100 and a wheel reaching x1,000
  • Free spins counter resets to 3 whenever a coin or Mystery symbol lands
  • 96.07% RTP and a 22% hit frequency
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • The wheel spins only if a Mystery symbol is on the reels when the counter reaches 0
  • Very high volatility with a 3.93% house edge
  • Purchasing free spins costs 90x or 150x the bet

Verdict

Big Money Wheel is a coin-and-wheel slot that builds towards one big spin at the end of the free spins. The 96.07% RTP, 22% hit frequency and Very high volatility fit a game where the finale carries most of the potential, and the 12,000x max win is the ceiling. A 3.93% house edge applies throughout, so use the free demo to watch the counter and the wheel before staking money.
