Tower Quest review
Tower Quest asks for a longer memory than most slots. Play'n GO released it in 2015 with two flask collections that fill up over many spins, each unlocking stronger wild features, plus a bonus where your cards duel an evil wizard's. Progress is saved per stake and even between sessions. The mix of slow collection and a dice-and-cards battle is what separates it from a plain five-reel game.
Collecting blue and red flasks
Two kinds of flask scatter land on the reels, and each kind feeds its own meter. Blue flasks unlock feature levels at 5, 10 and 15 collected. Red flasks need more: 10, 20 and 30. At any time only the most recently unlocked level of each colour can be activated, so the choice is between using a lower level now or keeping on until the next one opens.
Nothing is lost on a full meter. Extra flasks that arrive after a collection is complete are carried into the next round of collecting once the feature has been used.
The collection belongs to the total bet. Changing the stake starts a separate count, and switching back restores the previous one. The studio adds that progress is stored between sessions, so a half-filled meter is still there next time.
The six free spin features
Blue features are short and sharp: each lasts a single free spin. Red features last 5 free spins and lean on wilds for longer. Flasks and the bonus scatter never appear during these spins, but the wild can land on every reel at all times.
The Tower (blue, level 1)
For one free spin, reel 3 turns completely wild and every win on that spin is doubled. It is the cheapest blue level to reach, at 5 flasks.
Battle of the Wilds (blue, level 2)
The five highest-paying regular symbols all act as temporary wilds for one free spin, which leaves only the lower symbols and any natural wilds to fill the rest of the screen.
Towers of Dark Power (blue, level 3)
Reels 1, 3 and 5 are all wild for one free spin. Three fully wild reels out of five is the largest wild area of the blue levels, and it needs 15 flasks.
Empowered Wilds (red, level 1)
For 5 free spins, any win that involves a wild is multiplied by 3. It rewards the wilds that land naturally rather than adding new ones.
Wild Adventurers (red, level 2)
The two highest-paying regular symbols turn wild for 5 free spins, raising the share of wild positions on every spin of the feature.
Everburning Wilds (red, level 3)
A sticky wild is placed on the reels at the start of each of the 5 free spins, so by the last spin several wilds can be fixed on screen at once. It takes 30 red flasks to reach.
Duel with the wizard
Separate from the flasks, three bonus scatters start a card game against the evil wizard. In the main game that scatter only lands on reels 1, 3 and 5, and it never shows up in free spins.
Each round begins with a dice roll that decides which cards you play. Cards facing each other vertically then fight: attack is compared with health, and every card that falls pays a prize and costs its owner 1 point of health. Doubles on the dice, for either side, trigger a special attack that deals 1 damage to every enemy card and to the opposing player. Three of a kind activates a super power that doubles the attack of that side's cards. The aim is to bring the wizard's health to 0.
Five RTP settings and what they cost
Play'n GO supplies Tower Quest at 96.24%, 94.24%, 91.24%, 87.24% or 84.24%, and the operator decides which version runs. The matching house edges are 3.76%, 5.76%, 8.76%, 12.76% and 15.76%.
In money, a long run at the top setting keeps about $37.60 per $1,000 staked, against $157.60 at the bottom one. The middle settings sit at $57.60, $87.60 and $127.60. Over a hundred $1 spins that is $3.76 on average at best and $15.76 at worst; at $0.20 it is $0.75 or $3.15, and at $5 it is $18.80 or $78.80.
Volatility is rated Medium, a middle ground between frequent small results and rare large ones. No max win is published.
Legacy edition and similar Medium slots
Tower Quest Legacy arrived in 2025 with a 96.28% RTP and the same Medium label. Other Play'n GO titles with comparable numbers include Crazy Cows from 2014 at 96.24%, Eye of the Kraken from 2015 at 96.42% and Pimped from 2015 at 96.51%, all rated Medium.
The collection system makes this a game for regular, steady stakes rather than frequent bet changes, since every change splits the progress. Players who like long-term goals will get the most from it; those who want everything decided on a single spin may find the meters slow.
Pros
- Two flask collections unlock six distinct wild features
- Progress is saved per stake and between sessions
- Card duel bonus adds a different kind of round
- Medium volatility and a free official demo
Cons
- Five RTP versions, down to 84.24% with a 15.76% house edge
- Changing the bet splits flask progress into separate counts
- No max win is published
Verdict
Tower Quest rewards patience: blue and red flask meters build towards six wild features, and a dice-driven card duel adds a second kind of bonus. Medium volatility keeps swings moderate, and the top RTP is 96.24%, though the game also exists at versions as low as 84.24%. Check the active RTP, keep the stake steady, and try the free demo first.
