Diamond of Jungle review

Diamond of Jungle drops the usual danger of the rainforest for a comic-book look. Gorillas, tigers, elephants and toucans are the best-paying symbols, and the diamonds are the scatters everyone is hunting. Two features set it apart from most slots in this range: a switch that changes the volatility setting during base play, and a bonus called Super Free Spins that can be reached only by paying for it.

A comic jungle and a short symbol list

The studio describes a relaxed, comics-themed jungle rather than a threatening one. The animals carry the top prizes, and the diamond scatters trigger the main bonus. That is the whole shape of the base game: animals pay, diamonds open the free spins.

Three scatters trigger the round, and more of them raise the number of spins. The rules put it at 3, 4 or 5 scatters for 10, 15 or 20 free spins.

Two bonus rounds

The classic free spins and Super Free Spins both start immediately when bought, but only the first can also be reached through scatters.

Free Spins

Opened by 3, 4 or 5 diamonds for 10, 15 or 20 spins. During the round, multipliers of x2, x3, x5 or x10 can be applied to random wins, not to every win.

Super Free Spins

Purchase only. Every win in the round carries a multiplier of x2, x5, x10, x15 or x25. The studio presents the multiplier as applied to all wins, which is the main difference from the standard round.

Buy Bonus

Two options exist: the classic free spins or Super Free Spins. Either one triggers its round straight away.

The volatility switch

At any moment of the base game, players can switch between a low and a medium setting. The studio says this lets the experience be adjusted to preference. The feature is limited to the base game.

This sits oddly next to the catalogue, which rates the game Very high. We report both: the catalogue label for the game as recorded, and the studio's low-or-medium choice as a description of the in-game setting. Our source does not say how the switch changes the RTP, so the single figure of 97.01% is the only return we can quote.

Return and cost

The house edge at 97.01% is 2.99%, which is about $29.90 per $1,000 wagered. A hundred spins at $0.20 cost about $0.60, at $1 about $2.99 and at $5 about $14.95.

Our catalogue lists no max win, and the studio text we hold is cut off before it gives one.

Peers from 2024

Aztec Clusters, Lucky Dragon MultiDice X and Panda Luck all list 97% with a Very high rating, and Fortuna TRUEWAYS shows 97.07%. Wild Heart and Forgotten are a little lower at 96.92% and 96.89%. If you want the closest numbers to Diamond of Jungle, they all sit within a fraction of a percentage point.

Pros

  • Volatility can be switched between low and medium in the base game, per the studio
  • Super Free Spins apply x2 to x25 multipliers to every win
  • Two Buy Bonus options
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • Catalogue volatility is Very high, which sits oddly beside the studio's low and medium setting
  • Super Free Spins can be reached only by buying them
  • No max win in our catalogue or in the studio text we hold

Verdict

Diamond of Jungle mixes a light comic jungle with a few unusual choices: a volatility switch, purchase-only Super Free Spins and a standard round with random multipliers. The 97.01% RTP and Very high catalogue rating suggest uneven results, even though the studio says the in-game setting can be lowered. Expect a 2.99% house edge, and use the free demo to try the switch.
