Christmas Big Bass Bonanza review

Pragmatic Play gave its fishing series a winter coat in 2021: five reels, three rows and ten paylines, with festive fish that carry cash values. The base game is plain. What sets the slot apart is how the free spins work, because wilds act as collectors, and every fourth wild collected restarts the round with a larger multiplier. The ceiling is modest, but the bonus is built around steady accumulation.

Plain layout, cash-value fish

The slot has ten paylines across 5x3 reels, and wins are counted left to right on adjacent reels. A wild substitutes for every symbol except the scatter.

The rules introduce the Money symbol. On every spin it takes a random money value. The fish that pay as ordinary symbols are Money symbols too, and they also take random values on each spin. The rules say those values can be won during the free spins, which is when wilds collect them.

How the free spins pay

Three scatters award 10 free spins, four award 15 and five award 20. During the round, wilds appear on all reels, and each wild that lands collects the values of all Money symbols on the screen. Every wild that hits is counted until the round ends.

Because collection needs a wild and Money symbols on screen together, those are the spins that move the total.

Wild collection

In the free spins, each wild gathers every Money symbol value visible on the screen. The wilds that land are tallied until the end of the round, and the tally drives the retrigger described below.

Retrigger and rising multiplier

Every fourth wild collected retriggers the feature and adds 10 more free spins. It also raises the multiplier applied to Money symbol collection: 2x on the first retrigger, 3x on the second and 10x on the third. The multiplier therefore has a clear ladder with three steps.

Cost per session and top prize

RTP is 96.71%, a house edge of 3.29%, which means about $32.90 lost per $1,000 wagered on average. A hundred spins cost $0.66 at a $0.20 bet, $3.29 at $1 and $16.45 at $5.

The maximum win is capped at 2,100x the bet, equal to $420 at $0.20, $2,100 at $1 and $10,500 at $5. There is no bonus buy and no ante bet, so the feature has to be reached through scatters. The catalogue publishes no volatility rating for the game.

Family and alternatives

The catalogue lists the earlier Big Bass Bonanza from 2020 with the same 96.71% RTP and the same 2,100x cap. Bigger Bass Bonanza from 2021 also shows 96.71% but raises the cap to 4,000x. Outside the family, Big Juan has 96.7% and 2,600x, Cosmic Cash 96.55% and 2,650x, and Dragon Kingdom - Eyes of Fire 96.5% with 1,250x.

Pros

  • Wilds collect every Money symbol value during the free spins
  • Retriggers add 10 spins and lift the multiplier to 2x, 3x and then 10x
  • RTP of 96.71% with a 3.29% house edge
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • Max win of 2,100x is lower than many peers
  • No bonus buy, so the feature depends on scatters
  • No volatility label in our catalogue

Verdict

Christmas Big Bass Bonanza is a ten-payline slot whose free spins revolve around wilds collecting cash values and a multiplier that climbs with each retrigger. The 96.71% RTP means a 3.29% house edge, and the cap is 2,100x. Volatility is not published. Use the free demo to see how the collection pace feels, and keep any stake to an amount you accept paying for entertainment.
